It certainly does not. Anyone who does not own his work, or witnessed video of his amazing 'behind the slide' technique should.

Ditto Mate.

I just think Sonny Landreth is a completely divine player. And so underrated: I first heard of him when he did some TV work with Mark Knopfler some years ago. I am ashamed to admit I didn't know about him before that - but I sure do now!

He's got to be in the top handful of players on the planet right now. Any younger Forum users who don't know him - find out immediately! And then go buy some tickets and see him live. Technique and musicianship to perfection.

Good call, Doc.

Cheers - C

As the guys are saying, the players are out there. Slide Strat is hardly odd.

But, worth saying if you're thinking about it, a more modern Strat will be the best way to go. A tight 7.25" radius on a 50s or 60s re-issue is no fun to slde on because of the roundness of the curve. I wouldn't even try on anything less than 9.5"

A great technique to try to master. One of the things I remember about the GP article on Landreth is a discussion on how his guitars are set up. His bridge design is not stock. It's specfic to his need and, as 'adey' notes about regarding radius....I'd shouldn't wonder that a 12 radius for slide might not be even better.

Ho Hum...Sooner or later they fall into line, don't they mate.? Back to the question....
though he didn't use a slide, there was always the remarkable, late, great, Jeff Healy for playing a Strat on his lap. Hope this finds things all back in order in your back yard over there.
Doc.

I was gonna say the same thing.Jeff Healy could play on his lap like no other...I met him and he was a very cool down to earth regular guy.

I though Mr. Healy lost his eyes (not just his sight) to cancer as an infant or toddler... :?:

When he was eight months old, Healey lost his sight to retinoblastoma, a rare cancer of the eyes. His eyes had to be surgically removed, and he was given artificial replacements.Pretty crazy.....poor dude, but he could rip on that strat :D
My stepdad lost his sight recently as an adult...hard to go most of your life and than lose it in your 60s.I feel bad for my stepdad but he is adapting well
