So I guess the band is dressing up for Holloween when we play that weekend. Whats a few ideas you may have that will allow me to "dress up" and still be able to play guitar and sing? Full face masks are out, as well as too much makeup that may run under the statge lights.
BTW, why doesn't Drackula have any children? cause he had a hollow-weenie.

Being from Texas, I had western wear to throw on when we played in Cali on Halloween. Tony Lama boots, big western bucket and a cowboy hat that had a real rattlesnake head on the front of it. Between sets I was headed for the bar when a drunk chick fell backwards in my direction. I caught her, but in the process i knocked my hat off. When I madae a grab for it, I stuck my left hand into the rattlesnake's mouth and got stuck by a fang. I pulled it out and took a look at the base of my thumb where I got stuck. It was turning black and a knot about the size of a pencil eraser was starting to raise up with black veins springing up around it.

I'm thinking to myself: Great. I'm headed for the emergency room and will end up in the newspaper as the idiot that got bit by his hat. I sat down and tried to remain calm. the swelling went down enough for me to finish the final set. I got a new respect for rattlesnake venom from that experience. Imagine; that was just a few molecules of venom off of a fang. A live snake pumping a real dose into you would be a thousand times worst.

Would help to know what you look like in the first place. Tall with a thin face? Add Spock ears, pale powder and a Federation battle tunic. Heavy set? Do the Elvis white jumpsuit with chrome shades and glue on some sideburns. You have to take your natural looks into consideration and go from there to find something REALLY scary.

The best example I can think of when it comes to exploiting your natural good looks is one of our local guitar heroes who goes by the stage name Unknown Hinson, but is really named Stuart Daniel (Danny) Baker based right here in Albemarle, NC where he's been a guitar instructor since the early 80's. Along with Kellie Pickler and Tim Galloway (leader of Josh Turner's band plus a leading Nashville/LA session picker) the three are all products of the Albemarle music scene, such as it is.

Unknown Hinson however may become the most enduring success out of the three as his work on THE SQUIDBILLIES cartoon series voicing the part of Early Cuyler will be in rerun forever.

Unknown Hinson doesn't dress like this just at Halloween, but every gig, public appearance and photo shoot. I frankly suspect Danny Baker also did his Squidbillies voiceover work in character.

Now feast your eyes upon, the one, the only "KING OF THE COUNTRY WESTERN TROUBADOURS" who just happens to be one outrageously talented player too! He has his own Reverend signature axe, so Fender missed the boat here!

AND...How generations of America's youth will remember him from the cartoon show:

Seriously he is a VERY talented player and I guarantee you will never forget an Unknown Hinson show!

Anything with long sleeves on a cool night. Star Trek comes to mind. I'm gonna be John Lennon this year from Sgt. Pepper's. You can be a pirate without the patch and just the hat and a parrot on the shoulder. I've been a Hippie with love medallion and long hair and painted tee. Cowboy and biker seems to be the over used ones. Remember, different attracts the most.

Well the decision was made collectively by the band. We are all doing the Gypsy thing. I have the hat, ear rings and black hair dye. I can't take credit for the Gypsy idea since I was pushing another agenda but it does work better for a bunch of aging dudes than Spandex. Some of my Pirate clothes work for part of the Gypsy thing....just add a cummerbund wrap and cut off the coat. Could do the skull cap thing instead of the big hat if it gets real hot.

If I can find a decent pirate hat and a Long John Silver shirt I'll be playing Halloween as this "rock icon"......
