For the most part I love it so far. It's my first Jaguar so I was looking forward to trying the shorter 24" scale, and it turns out it suits my not-so-big hands really well. It's a great neck in general, feels and plays nice. Action is a bit high right now, might lower it a bit but it's still very playable.

I'm suprised that a made in mexico guitar would play this well. I've never had one before, but compared to a masterbuilt custom shop Strat I once had, I'd say there is no notable difference in playability. I exptected the worst being used to such high quality, but it seems to be no issue.

Sound is great, really meaty. The DiMarzio's seem to work well with the junky Jaguar body. Quite a variety of sounds in there. Coil tap would have been great, but I'm not complaining.

Don't care for the relict aspect, although it's been done "tastefully" as far as I can tell. It doesn't bother me at least.

I'm a bit of a sucker for tremolos, so I'm not very impressed with this one. This has probably nothing to do with this particular model, but rather Jaguars in general. I've more or less gotten used to how it feels now, but I find the tremolo arm is a bit too close to the strings and the whole thing feels a little wonky in general. Compared to my most beloved trem, the Edge 1 that I have on my Ibanez JS2400, this feels very unprofessional. Granted, the Edge is a full blown modern shredder tremolo (which I also very usable in subtle ways though), so I didn't expect to be blown away by this vintage thing. But still, the Strat tremolo has worked a lot better for me too.

The trem arm is a screw in. Personally I like a trem arm that stays in place whereever I leave it and doesn't hang lose. The problem here is that it either hangs lose or, when fully screwed in, it pretty much just stays in one place and doesn't move at all. So this seems different than the Strat one which moves less and less the more you screw it in. Gonna have to work something out here.

Another strange thing I noticed is that the G string goes out of tune after using the tremolo when all the other strings don't. I can't quite find an explanation for this. If the tremolo wouldn't reset properly, then all strings should be out of tune. That doesn't seem to be the case, so why is this one string coming out sharp every time I push the trem down?

This tremolo lock button I have been unable to use so far. It won't move at all.

String buzzing on the bridge... from what I read, a common problem with Jags, and this one has it too. Mainly the G and B strings.

Sounds interesting. I own both a Pawn Shop Mustang and a Modded '65 RI Mustang so I am familiar with the short scale. I have only played a Blacktop Jaguar and a Special Edition Jaguar but I really enjoyed them. I hope to at least try a Kurt Cobain Jaguar to see if it is right for me.

I would not count on a youtube video for a while

I got mine today, ordered from this german shop: http://www.musikhaus-hermann.de/xtv/de/ ... e-sunburst

Looks like no longer in stock now though. As for YouTube videos, seen this? Pretty decent.

Any chance of some pictures?

the G string could be getting hunp up on the string tree. Try some Big Bends Nut Sauce on all the contact points of the strings and that should help.

Even MORE where it's at. John McLaughlin with Miles' "rock band" playing his Musicmaster 2. Now THAT would have made sense for Fender to reissue. A guitar played by a guy who could actually play guitar. What a concept.

And it would sell about 20 copies.

to lock the tremolo button you have to insert the trem bar, then depress the bar and while holding it down slide the button towards the neck. That should lock the trem, then you just retune and you are good to go.

Some of the attitudes in this thread are laughable. I've always hated people who, just because they can play at lightning speed, think they are gods gift to earth. Music is ALWAYS about FEELING. Doesn't matter what genre it is, if the feeling is not there, the music isn't either.

I look at Kurt's songs at the same level as say Satriani's, because the feeling is present in both types of music.

Saying...OMG LOOK AT ME I CAN SHRED FAAST is just as pathetic as somebody who can play two chords and acts like they are fantastic.

I would rather listen to Nirvana any day over Satriani. Satriani's songs bore me. Just a bunch of noodling. No catchy songs. Cobain wasn't exactly a shredder, but his songwriting skills outshone most "guitar heroes." No question on who I'd rather hear.

I agree with you, I used Satriani as an example of a good 'technical' player.

Kurt's songs were simple but had power behind them. He had the most amazing voice too. Listen to Aneurysm. It's simple as hell. I played it within my first week of learning guitar. But there is no song that sticks in my mind like that one (live especially)

Kurt was all about making simple yet powerful music.

And if you think what he did was so easy...try making a song with a couple of power chords as energetic as Lithium.

I don't mean to sound like such a fanboy, but I think it's a shame when people automatically assume more is better.

I agree with what you are saying as well. Just because something isn't mind blowing technical wise doesn't mean it still isn't good. I'm going to have to use the example of the Beatles. Not many people will say they are bad but I don't see them doing mind blowing guitar solos either. All music can be good, it doesn't have to be a competition.

Uhh...Mustangs and Musicmasters are some of the hottest vintage guitars on the market, and Fender is selling their Mustang reissues by the boatload. 20 copies??? You forgot a few zeroes.
