I have no problem with a Cobain tribute. John Lennon was primarily a rhythm guitarist and pretty limited at playing leads - he has at least 3 tribute guitars. Joe Strummer was another rhythm player who has a tribute guitar. Marc Bolan, much as I loved him, really played some wonky lead guitar - but he has a tribute guitar as well.

People who object to the Cobain tribute Jag are usually (a) hardcore old-school classic rockers who haven't listened to anything past 1976, (b) forcibly retired hair-metallers who still bear a grudge, (c) moralists who are down on Cobain because of his illness and lifestyle, or (d) ignoramuses.

The Clash shouldn't get tributes. Just British Ramones knock offs. They wouldn't get on stage until they figured out who's sound to copy.

and while we're at it, i seriously do not see how nirvana's music is about 'teenage angst'. i garuntee you that a good majority of people who say that they are is purely cause the media dubbed the whole grunge thing about that when it got into the media spotlight.

Or those who simply think it's an ugly, ridiculously-overpriced bad-sounding guitar in tribute to a guy who could barely play guitar.

At least the Mustang was a simple beginner's guitar so minimalist and devoid of pretension it was and is hip.

This Jag-off thing is an abortion.

I am very interested in this guitar. I just recently picked up the blacktop jaguar and put a seymour duncan jazz humbucker in the neck and JB pickup in the bridge. I am curious what others think I would gain with the Cobain jaguar.

Thanks,
Erik

Love it.

For a person that changed the music scene as much as he did (and arguably more than a good number of the artists associated with the other signature models), I think its a great option. And this is coming from a die hard Hendrix fanatic.

To the people posting that argue his guitar "skills" somehow don't warrant a signature model--remind me the last time you changed popular music around the world?

Pretty boys have been screaming into mics and butchering 3 chords long before Cobain, and will do so long after. Music stayed pretty much the same during and after his unfortunate demise. Grunge as they say, took a plunge.

Fender is out to make money. If they can hawk this mess to wannabees, more power to em.

But the Mustang is the classic.

MM2 why are you waisting so much energy on something you don't like. We get it, you don't like it. Move on and talk about guitars you do like in another thread.

I just did. You're not paying attention. Try to deal with someone who disagrees with you by means of argument: you counter their opinion with your own facts and opinions about the subject at hand. Attacking someone personally or attempting to cyber-bully them off the forum will get you banned here, and in any forum.

If you don't like someone's opinion, you can either ignore it, or make a counter-argument. You don't have the option to attack anyone in here personally.

Besides, you can't intimidate me in any way. You're nothing but a bunch of text in a box. In other words, it can't work, it's a fool's errand.

So explain why Cobain was a brilliant guitarist, and why it's a beautiful and relevant guitar. I'm all ears. Or ignore me. Either way, I get to speak my peace. It's a wonderful country.

It's always tough on threads when daycare lets out.

Fender would be far better off selling one one these...

If you payed attention to what people had already said, you would have noticed that this agruement had already been made several times by others.

Please stop spreading hate. There's no need to call anyone childish.

I was seriously considering this guitar, mainly for the pickups. But then I realized there's no coil tap, which is very unfortunate indeed.
