IMHO I would rather have a nice one & fuke it up myself.
for instance the David Gilmour model was available in road worn & non road worn.
The fake abused pre-worn is just corporate money making scheme,
they will come out with some different models after the shine wears off of this one. even tho they did that for you already.
I get upset when I see a fender road worn series, the whole thing just makes me want to put a gun in my mouth.
oh,wait, I should not put that on a Cobain thread, or should I? :?

I can't agree more!
Spending years listening to great players like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie, Vinnie Moore, Eddie VH, Tony MacAlpine, Alex Skolnick, Eric Johnson, Zakk Wylde, Nuno Bettencourt, Etc.

the names go on and on those are just the ones i could think of from that day.

Musically it was one extreme to the other!

Kurt while he may have been a good songwriter was a less than average musician.

What do i know he sold alot of records???

It's obvious from the way Kurt conveyed himself in interviews, as he he told Fender that he didn't want his Jag-Stang idea released as a signature model. Unfortunately, Courtney Love *barf* owns his estate, and must have given the green light for this new Jaguar model, as well as the Jag-Stang (it was released in 95-96).

As far as the comment about putting a gun to your mouth, it's still under serious debate whether Kurt even killed himself.. besides all the other evidence floating out there, remember that there were no prints on the suicide gun. It would be impossible to shoot yourself without touching the gun. Plus, this was a house gun, so it should have had a ton people's prints! Sorry that I'm kinda straying from the point here!

I noticed right under the serial number is a crudely scrawled note in tiny script reading, "Courtney did it." Anybody know what that means?

he had a unique style of playing guitar, and he certainly could write some kick $@! riffs. i really domnt think that he wanted to be a good player, i just think he wanted to express himself. overall though he was a average player

Please think of when you started playing..........jump foward 5 years...... then 5 more years......How would you expect to play 20 years later?
His playing might not have been the greatest (However I like it) but his music is still poignant today. I will speculate if he was alive today he would be a much better player, as 20 years of playing makes us all better.
Does he deserve a sig model, YES not because of his ability at his death, but because of the effect of his playing in form of his music.
Just my opinion & BTW I ordered mine already

Rare Nirvana concert, "Live at the Palladium" to air next Fri, Sept. 23. VH1 plans on airing a rare, hour-long concert by the seminal grunge outfit on its own network, VH1 Classic, and Palladia. The broadcast starts at 11 p.m. EST/PST.

The concert footage stems from a gig at Seattle's Paramount Theater on Halloween in 1991. It apparently includes performances of "Breed" and "Polly" along with their renowned cover of the Vaselines' "Jesus Doesn't Want Me For a Sunbeam" and "Aneurysm."

Wonder if '65 Musicmaster2s are as sought-after as '65 Mustangs?

Virtuoso is nothing if the artist has nothing to say with their music in my opinion. With any form of artistic expression, there are people out there who focus solely on the "art"- the technical aspects (a particlular shade of brown, the sharpness of a lens, how fast you can play notes) and totally lose sight of the expression... by focusing on how they are communicating, they forget what they are communicating. Kurt was in my opinion the total opposite of this. Some might say that he was too against technical mastery, others say he achieved a good balance in his music (and also his other art).

well said. people dont seem to understand that he was there for the art, not the technical side

Kurt Cobain effectively ended the reign of eighties metal/hair bands with the release of "Nevermind" in 1991. The influence of that album changed the focus of guitar playing and song writing from technique and speed back to content and feel. The term "teenage angst" may have existed before "Grunge", but has never been more stongly associated with any other album or musical movement. I had friends in LA who had just signed huge record deals and were getting ready to start arena tours in support of groups like Winger, Ratt, Poison, Motley Crue, etc...but were quickly dropped shortley after the initiall success of Nevermind's sales. The writing was on the wall, "metal is dead", and a new king was crowned as grunge acts shot to the top of the charts and replaced metal bands on arena tours. Love him or hate him he changed the landscape of music back then and his influence continues to be felt and heard in young bands today. I think it highly appropriate, having been as influential as he was and continues to be, that Kurt have a signature model of his own and am thankful that Fender chose this guitar instead of re-releasing the Jag-Stang abomination.

To be honest, I don't like artist signature guitars. It was a nice tribute to an incredible singer and guitar player, but it's a bit pricey. Why not do something like he would want, like give instruments and equipment to poor and underprivileged players or people who want to play, people who have a desire for musical knowledge. If I had the money, I'd help people. But I don't. Fender, a company worth millions, even billions, does. You guys should really start some sort of program like that. I know a few people who want to play, but can't. I even parted out my Strat to 2 of them because they needed the parts for upkeep on the ones that were hmd or yard sale.

I think he meant better at playing guitar, using a third bridge technique or whatever its called and more complex leads.
