When I was younger I used to practice 2-3 hours a day. Now I practice about 1-2 hours a day.

After the wife goes to work I usually set down and play guitar and harp for about 2 hrs. or a little less, and thats 3or4 days a week. not every day. 8) any more than that and I loose interest. :) I alternate days with Strat - Tele - acoustic/Slide. Then a couple days a week I practice breathing exercises for singing. Don't sing so good anymore.

+1...There are certain songs I practice, but typically I just jam when I pick up a guitar. Some days I play constantly when I'm at home, other days I don't even get a chance to pick a guitar up.

depends. sometimes I have very little free time in a day, I can only do about 40 mins overall. Sometimes, I spend hours writing, playing, jamming.

I play every day before I go to work, helps me keep my perspective and not choke some NNDB who provokes me. Being that I work shifts, it could be 4 A.M., 2 P.M., 10 P,M, and a lot of other times because I work a lot of 12 hour days.

When I was a fanatical 10 year old, learning to play classical guitar with a private teacher (lucky me!), I did a minimum of 5 hours every day - before school, lunch breaks, before & after homework, even sat on the bog sometimes! When you love it, it's easy to put the hours in..

Now as a 50 year old guy, finally learning to play an electric guitar well, I manage about 90mins a day - usually just playing and noodling.. Nothing like the epic structured practise sessions I used to do as a kid.

But every day I thank God for those early lessons and practise. Even after all this time it means my theory is right on the money and I have a flawless left hand fingering technique - it's just using a damn plectrum I have trouble with!

For the most part, daily home practice is a non-happening.

Have come to grips with reality; being a great guitar player is not in this future, so 'just pick up what calls and play what comes from the soul-heart-mind-body, usually daily, sometimes a few times a day.

Before playing bass at Mass, there's a group 45 min-to hour, "Here's today's music," and run-throughs. Then big, long practices for important seasonal or special events.

I don't know if it qualifies as practice (nothing structured), but I try to play at least an hour, sometimes more, per day. It's always been more of a hobby for me. I do practice my scales, and some songs that I know, but mostly just goofing around. I might play the same song over and over to try and get it down. "It's Been Awhile" is the latest song that I've played, at least my version of it (practiced-self taught).

Having played since 1966, been formally trained and no longer gigging or even jamming for that matter, I am out of any kind of competitive mode, and this includes competing with myself. Sure, I still play for my own enjoyment constantly but nowadays, I 'work' on stuff when and if I feel like it without any kind of schedule which makes it all the more enjoyable. YMMV.

2-3 hours, in some days less. I practice in free time, but I haven't got much free time in these days (because school).

I picked an hour or less as I might take a break and then come back for another hour when home but it varys. I tend to practice a bit more when gigging regularly and write more at times when not.
