our busy summer season is finally coming to an end. this is first weekend off in awhile. maybe around 2 months. between the long hours and the 100 plus temps, i'm feeling very old right now. however, we have a new roof and soon we'll be replacing our fence with a much better one to keep the pups where they belong. i've paid off the harley. the best thing about working 7 days a week is not having time to spend any money.
i've lost a little as far as playing goes. hell, i have trouble just having a conversation sometimes. today i plan on having a few beers and cranking up the amp.
i know there are alot of folks on here who work longer hours in worse heat than i do.
how do you do it?

Hi jee. Enjoy your hard-earned free time! Is that a tube amp? I am considering switching from solid state...
10¨or 12¨speaker? I wonder.
Is it true one must let the amp cool down before moving it?
Hey! what breed are those puppies?

Hi mike07502,

It is best to let a tube amp cool before moving, but it isn't imperative. With the amp warmed up, any bangs or bumps when moving can affect the tubes or other components, more so than when they are cool. When the amp/tube components are warm, they are more flexible. If you are in the habit of moving the amp around while the tubes are warm, it could lead to shorter tube life. Take the 10 or so minutes to let it cool, put the amp in standby for a few, then amp off for a few before moving. But of course, if the audience is angry after a gig and you have to leave in a hurry, the amp won't explode, or anything like that, if you snatch it up and run.

Hats off to you jeebus, I can barely take this heat, IF I don't exert. Your post really has the makings for a great song. I can almost hear HW Jr singing it now.

mike, it's a peavey valveking 212. all tube. see shimmy's post on the tube thingy. good info right there.
the pups are lab/mastiff? and pitt bull/ridge back? both rescue dogs. we really don't care what breed they are. they do a really good job as watchdogs and keep ms. jeebus company when i'm gone. at a combined 180 lbs, you can see where having a new fence is important. it is my responsibility as a home owner and dog owner to replace my rotting fence. i thank God for every opportunity to make extra money.
shimmy, no need for a hats off. i just wonder how folks my age take this heat on a daily basis in a physical environment. hydration seems to be the biggest problem.
tomorrow i'm taking ms. jeebus to the honey hole. i'm getting the gear together and probably won't sleep well anticipating a good fishing trip away from this stinking city.
yep, i hear a tune coming from this post. country of course. i'm terrible at writing lyrics but i'll give this one a shot. i already have a simple chord progression i've been diddling with.
