Well, so have I and after extended playing and beginning to feel the weight it dug in like hell, especially when I was just wearing a vest. Okay if wearing a jacket but if something lighter they get very uncomfortable and I have these on nearly all my guitars.
So I decided to do something about it and without doing anything too drastic like buying a new bunch of wider straps with pads, I got one of these:

A Planet Waves Gel Strap Shoulder Pad. It's quickly detatchable from one strap (guitar) to another. So you only need one.

This is the padded underside. This is the topside

It's velcro fastening and you pull it apart at the top.

Slip your strap in, pull the flaps over so it fastens and away you go. It slides on the strap like a normal pad and it's quickly removed and changed to another guitar as required.
Well I think it's alright anyway. A lot of members will know of these but for those that don't .......

That's a great product, thanks for the tip Rhumba.BTW you can do almost the same thing by cutting out a 12" X 3 1/2" piece of lambswool or even one of those cheap fake lambskin bath mats, cutting a 2" slot near each end and threading the strap through. That's a low budget approach and you could do a few straps with just one bath mat and the rubberized backing keeps it from slipping.

I switched from 2 inch nylon straps to 2 1/2 to 3 inch leather straps for that exact reason. Cool tip for later down the road. Thanks.

Lake Placid Blue is the color of that one I think.

I don't have a problem with straps anymore at all. I use wide ones.

The picture above looks a lighter colour. A lot of light in the room, the other one closer to the top is more like the actual shade. I've been trying to find another pic.
BTW Yes! I should have bought wider straps from the start.

I had the same problem a number of years ago and I went another route, I switched to woven Levy straps of the same width I was using and these were so much more comfortable, I haven't used anything else since.

But Rumba that does look like a nice pad and must be much more comfortable. Thanks for sharing.

That's a great idea - I only started playing a Les Paul again a few months ago and that's exactly what I need :D I'm still looking around but amazon.com has them for $11.88 + shipping
