We went to the House of Blues last night to watch the finals. The winner was a country boy from Louisiana, Johnathan Boogie Long. He's only 22 and quite the entertainer. He's a big boy. Hopefully that won't prevent him from being around for a while because he's real good. Joe Bonnamassa was MC. Warren Haynes put on a great show, he had a great band. A young kid opened up the night with his band but I can't remember his full name, Tyler ????? He's got a young David Bowie vibe about him, if Bowie drank a pot of coffee. They put on a great set also. Really a fine evening. There's hope for the future of blues after seeing this show.

Good to know that some smarter kids out there still appreciate good music.

I shouldn't ask, but did you take any video? I have tried several times in the past and it hasn't worked out so far. 8) :)

----Danny,

House of Blues has signs all over about not recording any media. Guitar Center records the show and they post videos to YouTube. I don't know how long they take to post new shows but this one would definitely be worth watching. The guy that I thought was #2, Rami, is from Washington, your neck of the woods. You should watch out for him, damn good guitarist. Just didn't have the stage presence of Boogie. Pinecone Fletcher was there also. He's a trip.

That's the new King of the Blues. He had more room on stage to do some strutting and during his acoustic song he had the crowd clapping the beat for him. He was wearing a white silk suit that Gahdafi would have been proud to call home. He's got chops and since he's only 22 he'll probably get even better. I think we're all going to be watching a lot of his video's in the next few years. As soon as he finished his song, I knew he would win.

I watched that video, and some of his others that were on YOUTUBE - my first thought is, if he won, the competition must not have been that stiff this year - JMO

Yeah, none of the YouTube video's seem to capture what we saw the other night. I think he has a lot of talent and the best is yet to come from him. Here's one:

I just can't put my finger on it but he seems distracted or his timing isn't quite right etc. I'm hopeful he'll get it worked out. He does have some raw talent for sure.

Is it me, or in this video he looked like a young fat Joe Bonamassa?
