well, the title says it all, so be prepared for a long one.

i haven't posted in a while, though i have been dropping by here and there to read the posts. anyway, i moved back home to illinois, went to school for a semester but stopped going and failed all my classes (going back this spring though with a lot more interest in it.) as i mentioned before i joined a band that my friend was in, which went well for a while. my best friend moved back home as well from georgia, and we spent about a month and a half looking for an apartment. he moved back to georgia with his dad though, because he didn't want to get back into drugs, since they're available to him here.

but the main thing i want to discuss is... well, a little complicated. i went out with a girl for a few months about three years ago, but gave her up because frankly, we were both shy and awkward and i thought i was being a bad boyfriend. so she dated my friend (who happens to be the one from the band) for three years. i honestly never really stopped feeling for her.

so when, a few months ago, i finally realized after spending some more time with the both of them that i loved her, i went crazy. about two weeks of binge drinking stopped short when i woke up to my band friend's brother telling me he was in jail. so i paid $100 to bail him out. that night i finally broke down and told the girl i loved her. and so i found myself in a 'layla' situation.

well, a lot happened, and he ended up cheating on her. she finally had an excuse to break up with him, as she hadn't been happy with him for over a year. i won't go into it, but he didn't treat her right. obviously her and i got together. i tried to stay his friend, but the inevitable happened and i quit the band.

honestly, i'm sorry i lost a friend, but i'm ecstatic  even after two and a half months of being with her i think about her when i wake up, throughout the day, and when i go to sleep. she's the perfect girl for me, and we match up perfectly. we both feel relaxed with each other, and grew unbelievably close in a short amount of time (but that's probably because we stayed good friends after we broke up) i have no doubt in my mind that i'm gonna marry her one day. :D

she had a surgery to get a pacemaker put in last weekend (which had me freaked out, but it went perfectly) and now she feels a lot better.

but anyway, i just wanted to share, seeing as i hadn't posted in a while. for those who read all of that, thanks for your patience :P

-Jake :P

sending you good wishes for success. Stick with school. It is a gateway to many things, even things that may not seem related to it.

I'm a total n00b in this forum, but I read your story.

I have been in a somewhat similar situation, and that a blast it is when all the stars FINALLY align!

I wish you (and your lady) all the best. :)

Kingkeld.

Good luck with that and be happy.

School is the gateway to a good job and that allows you to buy the gear.

Love conquers all, or a least that what they say :D

It´s good to know where you are headed with your live, so good luck with all of that. There is a Icelandic saying that goes "Hver er sinnar gæfu smiður" (One is his of luck carpenter (yeah I know it doesn't translate very well  )) but it means that you have to work on your own luck, so work hard and good things will happen. 8)

Good to have you back Jake. Glad you've got your girl back. Sorry about the band but another band will come along. Going back to school sounds like a good idea too. Best of luck to you Bro.

You are doing the right things. Make your plan, work your plan. Sting was a history teacher wasn't he?

Glad to hear you got the girl...I'm sure you'll both be very happy and glad that you got back together! ...and I agree, the friendship will help your relationship...it helped mine.

I, too, quit college almost twenty years ago. I had a great job, a great girlfriend, a new car, a nice house...and everything went ok (we had our ups and downs, like everyone else) until I was laid off last year and no one would hire me because I had no degree of any sort. I have 15 years experience in my field, and everyone said, "You're not qualified to do the job you've been doing..."

I'm back in college, and let me tell you, it's harder when you're 41, with a kid and a wife and a full-time job (finally found one, but I had to move from my hometown) and all the other crap you have to do when you're pretending to be a grown up (don't tell anybody that I'm just pretending!). I hope to graduate next May. :D

I rarely give personal advice, but finish college while you're still young...it makes life much easier.
