I will also add that Gaga is just plain a dork. What prompted this thread was her embarrassing attempt to kiss (an unwilling) Britney at last night's VMAs (not that I had time to watch that pop fest--read about it). Really awkward and not fair to Britney, who has her career going again. Um, Britney and Christina did that with Madonna about 4 or 5 years ago. It was cool then. Britney (and Christina) were the heirs to Madonna and it was a perfect "cool" MTV moment. Just plain lame and dorky when Gaga tried it 4 years later.

Poor Britney for having to put up with that, because, speaking just careerwise (I swear this is not that I have a crush on Britney--she's hot like a lot of famous women are hot, whatever), Britney and/or her handlers know what's cool. It was cool when she had memorable basslines in her music in 1999, and she's (even though I hate it, personally) really leading on this new/old "techno" crap now. It was cool when she did it with Madonna the first time.

Gaga's dorky attempt last night, on the other hand, was like some dork trying to kiss a pretty girl when it's obviously not wanted after a bad first date or something--and it was a lame attempt to even more obviously ride Britney's coattails. Just really a "miss" and a "fail" by Gaga, in my opinion. I actually feel kind of bad for Gaga, to the extent a normal working person can feel sorry for a multimillionaire like her. She just tries so hard and it's just so wrong compared to Britney's 13 year career, in my opinion.

I agree that they are both good showgirls. I guess that's what they are. Whatever. Never mind.

I see no redeeming social value in either of these pop-tarts.
