Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone knows what the pull out tone knob does on my
Japanese 1990's Strat. My son says it does nothing but I can not believe that there would be a pull out knob that effects nothing. If you need more info please let me know. Thanks

Yes, we need more info, like the model, or even pictures of the underside of the pick guard. Push-pull knobs aren't standard on most Strats. If you have a hum-bucker pup, it could be a coil-split. Whatever the function, the difference in sound may only be apparent in a certain pup selector switch position. JAG. Try the push-pull in each pup selector switch position while playing through an amp, to see if there is a sound difference in one position.

Since the guitar does have a humbucker pickup, odds are that it's a coil tap; though it seems a little odd when the guitar already has two single coils. You should be able to hear a distinct difference (less in tone, perhaps, than volume) when you pull the knob out with pup selector switch in bridge position.
