Hi,

Many many years ago I purchased a magnificent vintage Fender instrument. At the time the instrument was sold to me I was told that it was originally owned by a famous musician who I am led to believe was endorsed by Fender.

I understand if an instrument was sold to a player that was not endorsed, Fender would have no record of who owned it first. But I would imagine Fender would have records of all the instruments they give away to endorsed players.

I do not want to big note and name the player concerned and look really stupid just in case I was given wrong information. But I am willing to email the serial number, details and photos to a Fender employee to try to find out if the history of this instrument is true. The instrument was made in 1968.

How could I find out?

many thanks in advance for any help and advice :D :D :D

Hi Phil, Welcome to the forum. Search for a post by Brad Traweek. Then send him a PRIVATE MESSAGE with the serial and see if they have records on that. He's the Fender Forum moderator, longtime Fender employee and has access to all sorts of historical records at Fender. Good luck and I hope it works out!

+1

However, I wouldn't be too hopeful that any historical records from 1968 remain available -- FMI/CBS routinely purged archived paperwork every few years to save on storage costs. Still, it's worth a shot.

Cheers mate and thanks for the reply. I tried what you said to do but it appears he has turned off the PM option.

Cheers
