I don't get it. :? Did the liberty bell and the people get their cracks during an earthquake?

BTW, what is "Evangulist", or "Devinne" for that matter?

In the first place, I dident say anything about an earthquake. And are you some sort of a self appointed spell checker? and do you have anything at all positive to say? Or do you just criticize other folks for there posts? I notice that you seldom if ever post anything of your own.

Lest it escape you, shimmilou (and a couple of other knowledgeable forum members) are pretty much single-handedly responsible for helping many Fender amp owners keep their HRDlx's and Blues Jr's healthy and stage-worthy. Without him, many of these folks would be lost and their amps prematurely relegated to dumpsters or landfills. I doubt few have shimmilou's technical expertise, either theoretical or practical. He may not post much "of his own" but the next time you have an amp problem and swim down to the deep end of the pool, he'll likely be the one to help you out. You may not like the sonofabitch and you may disagree with him (I often do) but he knows his $hit.

Just saying......

Arjay

An earthquake is how the monument was cracked (didn't you know this?), which could be taken as a divine sign. I was pointing out that your analogy made no sense, as neither the Liberty Bell nor people got their cracks from an earthquake. And, yes, it helps to be clear about what you mean, and who you were talking about. I guess that you missed the other point; that if you are going to criticize someone else, you shouldn't leave yourself open to criticism by using made up words, and/or referring to the wrong person. (Robenson?) It just makes for a better discussion if we are all on the same page.

Definitely not all TV evangelists are con men. I would also put Charles Stanley, Lester Sumerall, Les Feldick, Joel Ostein, Perry Stone (these are some of my favorites), and many others on the "good" list with Billy Graham. Yes, there are some con men, but let's not throw the baby out with the bath water. Just because I'm not a good Christian for example, doesn't mean that the rest are all bad too.

I suppose when your dealing with someone with no imagination, and absolutely no sense of humor,it makes sense to be explicitly clear in the meaning of what you say. And by all means don't (MISPELL A WORD) someone might not be able to figure out what your attempting to say. And for the record I am not the one saying that "All TV EVANGELISTS ARE CON MEN".

Many moons ago we all used to gather at a buddy's house for the express purpose of watching Ernest Angely. The guy was such an obvious charlatan and despite having millions of dollars and $2,000 suits wore a hairpiece that looked like road kill he was an absolute hoot to watch. We'd then head offf to our neighbourhood watering hole and re-enact our favourite bits from the show for the other patrons some of the guys had him down so well they could've made a living impersonating him.

In defense of the man;
Pat Robertson has stood the test of time. (I think 40, maybe 50, years with the 700 club)
He IS getting old, and with that - he has his opinion, and does speak it.
He has earned the right to do that. He also has that right (without having to earn it) from the US Constitution. I think he also served time in our military service, before beginning the "700 Club". ( It was an interesting story, back when I read it :) )

I saw the episode when he mentioned the crack in the Washington Monument.
He also started out by saying he didn't want to get all weird about it - but that this might be interpreted as some kind of "sign". You may be able to see that show from his web site (I don't know, but that's just a "maybe".

For those that question his motives - you might check into his "Operation Blessing", and the other operations he has going to help people - and that is all over the globe.

In closing - It does not hurt, or damage you in any way, to actually "watch" the 700 Club show a few times (there is No charge for watching :) ) - and then decide after that - what you think about the people.

After all - if you wanted to decide if you liked a certain musician - wouldn't you at least "listen" to them before passing judgement.

Just a suggestion

What Arjay said about people helping you here, is right on the money.
And Arjay is also one of those that helps.

I agree entirely. Arjay is always helpful and a relative book of knowledge. As well as being one of the most outspoken and comical personalities on the forum. 8)
