Today marks the 4th week off cigarettes and the money is building up in the Rickenbacker fund.I can almost smell that beautiful wood in the new case scent. Most likely though I'll be going used because new Ricks with toaster pups are kind of out of my reach unless I got the patience to keep saving another 10 months beyond the price of a used one.My biggest fear is going into a guitar store before I have all the money saved and I see something else I want like a Tele Custom or Deluxe-I guess I'll have to stay clear of guitar stores and stay focused.

BTW I still don't feel any big difference in my health, and ironically I feel more tired all the time since I quit but my chiropractor and doctor say that's normal for a few weeks after quitting as your body adapts to metabolising without nicotine in your system.Strangely enough though I've lost about 5 lbs.

I would have had a lot more money in my fund except for a CD/book buying binge I went on with about a dozen CDs a Rickenbacker Book and some other reading material.Next month though I should really start plowing in the money now that my CD appetite is sated for a while.I ordered England Dan and John Ford Coley's Greatest Hits last night so that should do me for a while along with the dozen others I have ordered. Thanks for the encouragement.

Great job! When you do smell that beautiful wood in the new case smell, you will be able to smell it much better without the smokes!

Congratulations. Losing weight? WOW!

A guitarist in our band just started smoking. He's like 42 and never smoked. Now THAT is crazy.

As a smoker myself, I have tried to quit multiple times and not had such great luck. I'd say that a month off is a pretty good milestone! I imagine things will only get easier for you from here.

Way to go! You are past the worst part...and that goal at the end is the way to keep you focused! Nothing like a little GAS to make sure you stick with it! Keep up the good work!

Congrats!!! You have just done the best thing you have ever done for yourself. I smoked for 15 years starting in the Army at 17 and quitting about 10 years ago. It was the friggin hardest thing I had ever done. My sister was a heroin addict and she told me that she kicked the smack easier than the smokes. Keep at it dude and all the luck in the world to ya!
You will feel the health effects later. I run 5 miles a day and have ever since I ETSed out of the military. Quitting smoking improved my whole life all around. I am 47 and can hike and run circles around 25 year olds now. Just keep it up!!!
