no, i am not an adbot nor do i work for MF.... serious question:

in the near future i am buying a fender LE ’65 Deluxe Reverb Amp from MF. I am in another country for a few more months so it is not a huge rush. My question is what are some of the regular savings or promotions that MF has. i have read a few times on these boards that usually you can find a promo for 10% off or something like that. Anyone have any tips to share with me. It is expensive enough that it ships free but i am hoping to find something else to knock off... even just a little is better than nothing.

Zen get on their email list if you're not already on it. They will send out sometime daily emails with codes for a percentage off. Right now they are running 10% off anything over $99.00 and 15% on anything over $299. Also it is best to call and speak to them over the phone and haggle a bit. They will give you a better price than what is listed on the website. Good luck... :)

I haven't bought from Musicians Friend, but I've bought two guitars from American Musical Supply. Both times I called and mentioned specials going on at other outlets and got an extra 15% off. Their prices are usually among the lowest anyway, so with the extra discount, free shipping and no tax, I felt I got a pretty good deal. The second time, the person said I needed to email the other places ad to get approval. I told him when I hung up I'd be calling another place, he put me on hold, came back and said okay.

If you have a website or blog, and if you live in a state without that silly internet sales tax law like NC, then you can sign up at http://www.cj.com to become a Commission Junction publisher. Apply then as an affiliate for Musicians Friend and there are other dealers on there too. Once approved as a publisher put their banners on your website or blog. Then before buying something click on your link to visit the website where you want to shop. You will earn a small commission, usually like 3 to 6%. Once you earn the minimum payout from referred sales, I think it is $50 now, you can request a check. That is on top of whatever coupons, sales, etc they have going on.

+1 on getting on their email distro...
If you see better prices at a competitor of theirs, they will match it and give additional 10% off the price difference. The caveat is you have to provide proof. A web link or scan of the advertisement.

They are a good outfit and have treated me right. No complaints from me.

I've used both Musicians Friend and American Musical Supplies and found both to be very reliable. At AMS, I actually get a call every now and then from the same salesman, Austin, just asking how I'm doing, if I need anything, etc. We always chat about gear and music.

In My case the MF has always been willing to meat any other legit. price and they don't charge sales tax in the U.S. Sales tax in Washington State USA would be an additional 8.5% that was $85. right there, on my last guitar. :) :)

Another good place is Sweetwater. I think that's where Austin is at, not AMS.
