LOL, that's a funny picture

Are you disputing that a natural habitat is being destroyed in Madagascar due to illegal logging or that no guitar is worth the destruction of said natural habitat?

Guitar manufacturing is not destroying the forests. Guitar manufacturing is only a tiny percentage of lumber usage. Martin Guitar, Taylor and others take the hit for it when it's lumber for homes, windows, fine furniture etc. that is the real culprit. I read an article that Sitka Spruce's days are numbered. It's a very small percentage that goes into guitar tops. It's all total bullshit and someone does have a big stiffy for Gibson for some reason. It's probably some freakin politician behind it that has stock in FMIC, Ibanez or some other competitor.

That is what comes when you make high quality guitars out of the best woods available. Black market dealers have way of getting wood into the market appearing to be legitimate to those who purchase. Companies don't have the resources of the Federal government to investigate every purchase they make.

Haha...I love how people blame the government for every thing that happens. It's real simple, laws are in place, if you follow them, you don't have to worry about being raided. I haven't heard of any other American guitar company being raided by the feds; multiple times. Don't blame the government for wasting your tax $$$ (in this situation), blame the law breakers. We may not all like, agree with, or even care about the laws in place regarding environmental issues, but if I can get a ticket for watering my lawn on the wrong day, Gibson can be held accountable for using wood they shouldn't be. That being said, yes the government has WAY too much power in this country, but it's not like Gibson didn't have a chance to remedy this situation. I have no sympathy for anyone getting in trouble for the same thing a second time.

I strongly believe if we had more sexy bikini contest we can raise more than enough wood quickly to combat such shortages or shrinkage for that matter.

The problem is Tim that the government picks and chooses what laws they are going to enforce. Yes, enforce them all equally, but they don't. It's the hypocrisy that kills me and these wild claims that can't or haven't been proved.

Well, y'all have a good one. I'm out of this conversation before it gets out of hand. Peace my friends!!

Very true sir. I don't want my last post to sound like I'm defending the gov't, but my thought process is this. Yeah it sucks that there are all the pointless laws in place, and that they really aren't enforced in any kind of an orderly manner a lot of times. But I don't see ANY other American guitar companies being raided by the feds, and that's because whether they agree or not, they follow the laws. If I get a speeding ticket, it's not because the cops are out to get me, it's because I was speeding.

Eric Holder is corrupt from the first day he was appointed. Remember, he wouldn't go after the Black Panther party for voter intimidation, flat out refused to prosecute with witnesses and people complaining. He picks and chooses for political reasons. Gibson might be guilty, but immigration problems are more important and he does nothing.

I couldn't give a rat's fooking azz what happens in Madagascar. All I know for certain is, any logging industry there is providing jobs for its citizens who desperately need them and nebulous regulations crafted by utopian zygotes are a needless impediment to said economic development. Arguments to the contrary are little more than intellectual Cheese-Whiz intended to make Rebecca and her sympathetic stooges more comfortably on their proverbial Sunnybrook Farm.

If an American president successfully cut off the flow of illegal immigrants, it would have a negative imact on the American economy. That's why none of them have seriously tackled the issue.

Also, the Bush justice department was at the helm when that Black Panthers thing happened and they didnt do anything for either, and they had 3 months to act.

OK Ill stop now.
