How do I play faster? Bass shredders and anyone else help.

I am working on this bass solo:

Been trying for a long time. I can do it about 10% slower than performance speed. Any advice for getting faster? How long does it take to achieve this kind of speed?

That bass part is cool but that sounds like he has a digital delay pedal or something helping him out. Do you use your fingers or a pick?

I use fingers.

He isn't using delay. Although that sounds like an alternative I could do it. But I would like to shred, just to add another trick up my sleeve to use anytime needed.

I have never been good at playing fast.

I can actually do it up to speed for the first 8 measures, then my hand gets tired and I have to revert to 8th notes mixed with 16ths.

Repetition, repetition, repetition.. The more you try, eventually you can succeed. My advice would be to make it a goal to further at full speed over time. To the first minute, then to 2-min, then 3rd, and so on. It may not happen over night. Even if it took a month, eventually you should get it by sheer repetition of trying and believing you can do it.

Do you use only your wrist?
I would only use my wrist and that gives a lot of reduced speed. Try using your elbow and wrist at the same time for maximum speed.

Im not saying that is not doing it that fast but He has some kind of effect. Just keep working on it you can get it

Don't you just love it when there is a solo and the cameras show every other musician but not the musician doing the solo?
