R.I.P. Two Great Songwriters Jerry Leiber and Nick Ashford Both have written some great somes. Jerry the famed songwriter who penned such hits as 'Hound Dog,' 'Kansas City' and 'Stand by Me' among many others with partner Mike Stoller and Nick with classics like "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "Reach Out And Touch Somebody's Hand. I thinks these are people who dont get credit that they should R.I.P.

The list of songs penned by these two is astounding. The teams of Ashford & Simpson and Leiber & Stoller combined to write so much of the music that is the soundtrack of my life.

August 22, 2011 two giants of the music industry were called to heaven. Thanks for posting this thread G.I.B. Jerry Leiber with his partner Mike Stoller are what "brotherdave" said as well as Nickolas Ashford and his partner Valerie Simpson. I hope that the partners are doing OK. It would be cool if this thread started getting posted with hits from these songwriters, there are so many by so many different artists.

KUDOS to Paul Schaffer of CBS Orchestra. One night he did all Leiber/Stoller songs and another night he did all Ashford and Ashford/Simpson songs. That is a tough & tight band.
