i'm putting a guitar together, and wonder where I can get some capacitors and what kind to buy for this project. I am doing a HH Strat with 500k pots (obviously). any advice?

I would go with a 0.020mf or a 0.050mf the higher it is more bass output. You can get them any where Radio Shack,stewmac,Ebay tons of places on line

hi ,for buckers i would deffo go for a .22 uf cap and if you play around with your tone controls a lot i would go for a paper in oil cap , they are excellent , i have them in all my guitars and depending whereabouts in the world you are e bay is probably a good bet or if you are stateside there are plenty of venders selling them (unlike here in the uk ) hth , cheers

Depending on the tone you want, you can use Ceramic, Poly, Mylar or Paper In Oil/Vitamin-Q type caps. An excellent source is http://axegrinderz.com/

Go to their site and read the part about UPGRADING YOUR TONE. I prefer Vitamin-Q caps on my passive basses. But guitarists often want a little bite or distortion.
