OUCH! I'm not quite that brand loyal, though I proudly display my Fender license plate on the front of my Cherokee. I guess it beats having an EX girlfriend's name on your body, though I bet it's a great conversation starter! 8)

Oh man, I'd never put a girls name on me. Or tribals, wizards, dragons, etc...

I only get a tatt if it relates to me at my core. Something that won't change no matter how old I am. That's one reason I waited till my 40's to get a couple of tatts. I had a lot of pressure to get one when I was younger. Especially in my Navy years. All that drinkin and guys getting tatts. It was hard to say no, but I did. 22 years old is too young to make such a permanant decision.

I may get Tat out in the future, I haven't ruled them out. And nobody said anything about an Ex girlfriends name, I said I used to go out with a punker chick who has obsenities on her head, if that's what he's refering to.

Oh no, not you. Tele1987 mentioned the cliche ex-girlfriend tatt.

Oh, I looked through the thread for an ex girlfriend reference, must have missed that one. Sorry

Sorry. Someone had to do it!

BTW, I got no tats, that's why the ouch!

Ex wifes name, current wifes name, I wasn't really bright in my youth :?
Many of my tats are old enough to drink and smike without me
As for loyalty, I converted to FENDER about 9 months ago, when I realized that their guitars are the BEST for the $$$$$$$$

Paulie said it already.

Nope, no brand loyalty at all, not here. Personally, 'find the whole concept of product-loyalty baffling. What the (beep)[?], the brand does not have it for (we) individuals.

The only 'brand' logo products this picker will wear / display are companies personally worked for / part owned and universities personally attended. And nope, none of them are tats.

NO mental / spiritual / cosmic / psychological "need" here for personal-product associations.

i dont wear clothes with a desigeners name on it, not my thing either, but for me i have been playing almost 20 years, and i havent found an insturment that feels like an extension of me besides a fender tele, it is something i take pride in, my guitars, now if they all went up in flames would my life be over, of course not, they are just wood and metal, but i am proud to play fenders, and i believe in fenders so i support them

Exactly, I play Fender Precisions and only Fender Precisions. I've never found another Bass that plays the way a P bass does for me. So I've no need to look elsewhere. My rig is all FMIC, (SWR 550X head, and 2 Fender Pro 115s), but I tried everything on the market. I was looking to build my ultimate rig, one that is as close in tone as I can get to my old 74' Basman 100, but in a hybrid format. Simple to use and great tone like a vintage head, with all the niceties and improvements of modern tech, and that landed me at the SWR X series. For my cabs and my money nothing will ever sound as good as a P bass pumped through two Fender 15's.

I'm loyal because I know what works for me, and what sounds good. Fender and the FMIC family gives me all that.

D

Leo Fender didn't just start a company with a Logo, he injected one of the most important peices of Americana into the World Culture, revolutionized the way Popular music was played and listened to. He marketed his invetion to Coutry Players because he loved American Music, having no Idea he'd be giving Blues and Rock a new voice. In the early 60's he pioneered the idea of quaility begginer guitars, figuring the better experience a begginer has with his guitar, the more likely he/she would be go on to a better guitar. No one can measure the impact that had on every Guitar Manufaturer since then. Not being a business man, he ended up selling Fender to CBS. They had a rouhg time with Brand Loyalty during those years, as guitar players loyalties are not fickle. In 1985 a group of Fender Employees (led by the late Bill Shultz) bought the company back from CBS, and reintroduced the spirit of Affordable Quality, customer satifaction, and usable entry level instruments. The fact that all this happened right here is So-Cal makes me giddy, but any American should be proud to wear a Fender Shirt, and any Tat bearing Guitar Player couldn't do better than a Fender Tat. It's not like a Nabisco tattoo, or Grafix Bong jester, there's some serious history behind the Fender Moniker.

No need for product associations? But you just said you wear the logo's of companies personally worked for / part owned and universities personally attended. I don't see the difference between wearing the company logo of a company you work for/own or a the logo of a company of a product you use. You're still wearing a logo.

I seem to remember, somewhere in a hazy past, some guy with the Zig Zag dude tatt. It was pretty cool.

Agreed and good point, Cryingstrat.

Just a personal preference to limit brand-affiliation clothing with companies and U's worked for / part-owned / attended.

Being fair to other products enjoyed but not personal clothing-endorsed, 'don't wear "Maytag Washer!" or "Ethan Allen Dining Room Table!" tees either.
