Met and jammed with a few Blues guys, Chris Cain, Kenny Neal, Joe Louis Walker... my favorite moments were:

Having a drink with John Lee Hooker at Woody's in Miami Beach during his break, I must've been 18 back then  he was a wonderful person to talk to!

Meeting Albert King, twice! My hero!

Meeting Joe Walsh on stage while playing with AK's band following Albert's funeral and giving him my guitar to jam with the band... he didn't like that guitar and gave it back after one song :) wish I had my Strat with me!

Hmm, let's see.
-I met Jim Clench, who died last November. He played with April Wine (had two runs with them) and BTO. I met him at a guitar clinic/demo. He played bass while another guy played guitar to demonstrate the guitars.
The friend I was there had to talk with him--as they hung out after the jamming so we could sample the guitars--he was quite nice and put up with a lot of questions from some young guitarists who listened to some older music he had played long before.

-I met Seymour Duncan at an in store appearance. He isn't famous as a guitar player--but he is one. He played at the appearance, and picked a guy at random to jam with (Wasn't me--unfortunately) He was pretty good. I asked him about some pickups of his I'd already bought.

-The highlight though was meeting Glenn Kaiser. It's possible a lot of you haven't heard of him, but he's one of my favorite guitar players, and meeting him at a guitar clinic was real cool, and a highlight--as was the concert that night. He liked the guitar I brought (My Ibanez AF95) It was a very informative, inspiring, and entertaining day and evening.

Cool.. I'm always pleased to find another American fan. Have corresponded with a few via the internet over the years. In the late 70s meeting her was not impossible - EMI had her running around doing personal appearances, album signings etc. I know she got to the States a few times and did some TV work over there. But once she took hold of her own career and started to stamp her own authority, it became increasingly difficult to see her anywhere. She only ever toured once (I was there - both nights in Birmingham - staggering show). These days, she has a few trusted friends in the business who are extremely discreet. Her last 2 albums - Aerial and Directors Cut, both sold amazingly well (no2 in the UK) even though she did hardly any promotional work. A few radio interviews with DJs she's come to trust over the years. She's not a recluse, but she is an extremely private person - living quietly with her partner and their one child..

I've met too many to explain the circumstances behind all of them, so I'll just list whether they were cool or not:

Cool:
Buddy Guy
Kim Wilson
Matt "Guitar" Murphy
Tab Benoit
Bugs Henderson
Gatemouth Brown
Sue Foley
Kid Ramos
Joe Ely
David Grissom
David Lee Holt
Malford Milligan
Doyle Bramhall
Doyle Bramhall II
Charlie Sexton
Teye
Davis McLarty
Ian Moore
Eric Johnson
Albert Collins
Willlie Nelson
Tommy Shannon
Chris Layton
Angela Strehli
Marcia Ball
Ed King (Lynard Skynard)
Andy Timmons
Pinetop Perkins
Delbert McClinton
Clifford Antone (semi-musician, club owner)
Fran Cristina
Zakk Wylde (when he was young and somewhat skinny)
James Cotton
Preston Hubbard (Fabulous Thunderbirds, bassist)

The first two times I met Reese Wynans, he wasn't very nice...the third time, he was polite, charming and very pleasant. The first two times I was somewhat inebriated and the third time I was sober. The third time I noticed he was impolite to all the drunk people who were wanting his autograph...I assume he doesn't tolerate drunks very well.

Guys that should be famous but aren't (and they were cool):
Willie "Big Eyes" Smith (Muddy Waters' Drummer)
Calvin "Fuzz' Jones (Muddy Waters' bassist)
Derek O'Brien
Buddy Whittington
Sarah Brown (Antone's house band Bassist)
George Rains
Mike Keller
Jim Suhler (George Thorogood, Monkey Beat)
Johnny & Jay Moeller (Fabulous Thunderbirds, Holy Moellers)
Gene Taylor (Piano--Fabulous Thunderbirds, Kim Wilson Blues Revue, The Blasters)
Sam Myers
Anson Funderburgh

Uncool:
Glenn Frey-arrogant, condescending son of a gun

There's probably more, but I can't remember right now.

I've seen Reese Wynans around here often playing with several different people in Nashville,Armadillo......I've never seen anyone ask for an autograph, maybe there's not that many SRV fanatics who only know him from that band....to me his claim to fame is jamming with the members of the original Allman Brothers Band, the first time they were at Butch Trucks house,of course we all know he got ousted from that band by Gregg,so I haven't asked him about that episode.

Run into Bruce Springsteen a couple of times, both times been a great guy. Once was at a show in Cardiff in which my little brother was given a harmonica of his.

Also my step dad owns an independent record store here in the UK which do a lot of trips to big artists gigs, especially Springsteen. On one visit to an Asbury Park, back in 2004 a guy strolled into the bar with a motorbike helmet on, when he took it off we realised who he was! He recognised the owners of the shop as we probably go through a big amount of his tour dates, which include going to almost all of them on the european legs, and told us we really get around a lot! Then went to the bar, got everybody a drink and sat for a little bit chatting about his shows and the music he's into in general. Then he posed for a photo with everyone and went on his way.

For a massive star he was incredibly down to earth, very nice guy.

Well, not as many as Tony ^^^ but still...

Too many to mention (or even try to remember) but
most memorable was Leslie West, who sat in with the band
about 20 years ago. Played cards in a Holiday Inn suite after
a gig with Felix Cavaliere once too. Nice folks!

Rob Zombie: I met him in a CD/DVD store I used to manage. He came in looking for the Shawshank Redemption. I introduced myself and shook his hand. He has really soft hands for a horror rocker  !

Gordie Johnson and Kelly Hoppe of Big Sugar (Canadian Band): Met them at a meet and greet after the 2 did a duo show.

Wow! I was not even aware that she put out a new album this year (being a busy father of a two-year-old sometimes keeps you a little out of the loop with these things :) ). Looks like 'Director's Cut' is made up of some re-worked versions of earlier material. Is it worth picking up?

I thought 'Aeriel' was a very impressive album -- seemed like picked up right where she left off after spending a few years away from recording.
