I saw John Jorgenson and Albert Lee in concert last night and what a show! Two Grammy-winning guitarists in a small venue, tickets less than $40 -- it doesn't get much better than that. John switched between his Hellecaster Strat and his Custom Shop signature sparkly Tele. Albert played his Ernie Ball Reserve limited edition Music Man guitar. Man, can these guys play...

Glad to hear that!
I'm seeing them next Wednesday night. Same price for tickets too. Mine were $35.
Looks like they haven't sold more than half of the 400 seats either which is a shame!

Really looking forward to seeing these guys.
Might bring my Tele to have them autograph it.

You're in for quite a show. John Jorgenson played a Beatles song (off of Revolver, not sure the song title) that sounded pretty incredible. They also played a couple of Buddy Holly songs.

You can probably get them to sign your Tele. Albert Lee was walking around before the show, talking to fans and signing autographs. One guy had him sign a guitar... After the show, they were selling and autographing CDs.. The venue I went to was only about half-full, which really surprised me.

John Jorgenson mentioned that Bill Kirchen joined them onstage for a couple of shows earlier this week... guitar overload!!

Wow!
What a show! Went last night and it turns out to be their last stop on the tour.
To see these guys together was a guitarist dream! They played well over 2 hours and stayed afterward to sign autographs. I talked to both gentlemen for a few minutes each. Both Class-acts! I snapped some pictures during the concert and will post later.

Also got them to sign my Tele!
What a Thrill to hear these guys play!! I can't say enough about it!
But you were there oldguy101, so you know!!

Great players...did JJ do any of his 'gypsy jazz' material?

John didn't play any gypsy jazz at the show I went to but I know he's doing some shows with his quintet. Here's a link to a list of currently scheduled shows:

http://www.pollstar.com/resultsArtist.a ... %20quintet

He said the show he does with the quintet is very different than the show with Albert Lee. He does play gypsy jazz with the quintet..

Some pics finally... Taken with my cellphone so please understand the quality.

Here is John Jorgenson with a gold speckled Tele:
Image

Here is Albert Lee with his Music Man:
Image

Here is John playing a Custom Shop Strat during his performance of George Harrison's "Love you to" which he performed with a fiddle player who has been on his Jazz albums. Fiddle player drove up from Boston for this and one other song.

This is the only song he played this guitar on. Quite lengthy song as well and completely amazing.
Image

Another shot, same song, same guitar..he broke the high E during the song and when he finished the song, he grabbed all of the strings and tore them off the guitar complete with bridge and and held them in his hand!! I was so shocked, I didn't grab a pic of that. This is just before he did it.
Image

This is right after the Harrison tune and Albert joined him on stage to do a couple of Everly Brothers tunes. Albert sung as an Everly Brother and toured with them for many years. If you look at the Strat on the guitar stand you can see where the bridge has been ripped out! I helped the keyboard player after the show find all the missing parts, springs primarily that had fallen onto the floor.

Image

Here John and Albert do one of many duels...I can not describe how amazing these guys sounded when playing together! They had a lot of fun as well. Because I was in the 2nd row center, I got to see them exchange a lot of smiles.

Image

Here, after the show, they were available to meet and have items autographed. Spoke to both of them for a few minutes as I was one of the last in line. As I said, both gentlemen were very friendly and approachable. Great thrill to talk to them.

Forgot the most important pic! I had them autograph my Tele...

Image

It was the last show of the Tour and both of these guys were on fire that night!
I asked them if they would do another tour together. John said he is off to do a Jazz Tour in the UK with a stop in Scotland. To which Albert said he'd be there too at around the same time in October Touring with Bill Wyman's Big Band.
As for another tour:
They just smiled and John said "You can never say never."

Awesome! thanks for posting the shots. I forgot to bring my camera that night. I almost felt guilty because they were supposed to go to the back for the signings and I stopped Albert to talk to him a few minutes on stage. We had emailed each other a lot before but never met. My friend took the opportunity to have Albert sign something which kind of opened the door and a lot of people started doing it. I only got to talk to John for a brief second before they got instructed to go to the back at which point he said walk with me. I only wanted to say a quick hello anyway and had met him several years ago at one of Scotty's parties. I left after that.
I saw you walking around with the guitar and meant to say something to you, though I didn't know you might be a member here. It was a great crowd too, and they seemed to enjoy it playing to it.

Yes they really liked the crowd that night. At least that's what both of them told me afterwards. If you remember John made a remark about them playing two nights in Manhattan just before coming to NH and how they felt the crowd there really wasn't into their music. So they really had a great night in Londonderry!

I felt a bit awkward carrying the guitar around with the crowd back there but I figured it was my only chance to have both of these guys in the same place at the same time.

I'd seen each of them individually before but to have both on the same stage?? Once in a lifetime...

btw, that Tuepelo is a great place to see bands for short money. I already signed up for Johnny A and Ronnie Earle and David Bromberg. Small venue and byob.... $35 a ticket.

Johnny A was there Wednesday too. I saw him getting his picture taken with Albert or John, can't remember which, before I left. I was talking to his girlfriend about the show as we were walking out. She/they seemed to really enjoy it.

It is a really nice venue. It was my first time there, but I can't say I'm a fan of the seats. Lee Rocker was there a week or two ago but I didn't hear until the day before. I would've at least liked to go by and say hello to him and Brophy Dale.

Son of a gun...when I went out to my car to get the guitar, I passed this guy and girl and I said to myself, "that looks like Johnny!" . I was standing right next to them when they got their pic taken with Albert.

The seats...yup, they are way too hard for a 2 hour show! My wife hates those seats!
