If so, please tell me what it was like and who you saw there. Thanks. My favorite music is from this era, but I wasn't born until '68. Would love to know what it was really like.

Nope, I was at Fort Polk, Louisiana, where signs you saw as you entered the base proudly proclaimed: 85% Of Our Recruits Go Straight To Vietnam! Yep, I was one of the lucky 85%. But at least I made it back. While I was there, my wife was marching in Anti-War demonstrations back home.

Although only about 100,000 attended Woodstock, millions claim that they were there. At the time of Woodstock I was lucky if my parents let me go to a highschool dance.

Yes, but not during those three days of love, peace and music (amoungst other things) that were going on at Max's place.

It was at Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble held at his studio in Woodstock, NY.

http://www.levonhelm.com/midnight_ramble.htm

Well worth the visit if you're in the area, IMO.

Any number of attendees of Woodstock is an estimate....remember,they crashed the fences, nobody knows how many were actually there....doesn't matter what a documentary says.
And I was in Tennessee, crusin in my '66 Chevy Impala...gas was about .35 cents a gallon...and playing my '65 Fender Sonic Blue Strat through a '55/'56 era tweed Deluxe. :D
Life was good if you weren't a grunt heading to where CRGuitarMan was....glad you made it back to the world man!...remember the ones who didn't! RIP.

I remember Woodstock. Aug 15th - 18th 1969. 8)

I wasn't there though. I was only 8, but seriously, I remember it. Heck, I grew up outside of Poughkeepsie, NY (only about 45 min - 1 hour away from Max Yazgur's farm). I remember the traffic jams and hippies everywhere you looked. It was awesome! 8)

Older brother-in-law - At Woodstock, then two weeks later, got shipped off to Vietnam. He made it home in one piece, thank God, and a few years later, married my older sister.

Cousin - At Woostock. She drove down to my house to try and pick up my oldest sister, but my father wouldn't let my oldest sister (18 at the time) go to Woodstock.

Older neighborhood friend - At Woodstock. He also came over to our house and tried to get my oldest sister to go, and again my father wouldn't let her go.

Even I was only like 8, it would have been a blast to go see it! 8)
