I finally got tired of free music store playing because, at least where I live, the strings are always *heavily* in need of replacement such that it's not even a fair test drive of the guitar. So now I stay home and play my own guitars that have shiny new strings. Don't know if you have that problem there. When I was a *total* beginner I didn't know the difference but now--not that I'm a good guitar player--I can at least recognize when the strings in the store are terrible (I mean a lot of times you can see that they are turning black and feel how much friction there is) and I'd rather practice on my good strings.

You seem to have a cool teacher.
