Post subject: Kudos to fender customer service!

To preface this post I have to say that about 2 1/2 weeks ago I bought a set of vintage noiseless pickups for my strat from a local mom & pop shop (at least that is what I call it; they have 2 locations). When I went to have them installed at another shop that I frequent, I found out the neck pickup was bad. So I took it back to the shop where I got them at and they said they would take care of it and order a new one for me. A week goes by and they tell me they can't get it from their supplier and have to order it from fender (that was last week). So I go in there yesterday and asked him about it and he said to me "It's fender. It could take a week or a month". He seemed to have a pretty snotty attitude towards me when I asked him.

So none too happy, I left there and will never darken their doorstep again. I got the thought in my head that i'd call fender directly and see if they could be any more helpful.

And they were!!

They guy I spoke with said that it was unusual for them to even do what they "said" they did. He then said that he knew they had one there and he'd send it to me. The guy said that it wasn't right of the dealer to do that to me and should have directed me to contact fender in the first place. And over the whole time I was on the phone with him (a whopping 7 1/2 minutes), he was very nice and made sure of the exact pickup it was and confirmed my address, told me that the mail had already left for the day and that it would go out the next day (today).

Kudos to fender customer service!! After this experience, I will only deal with the store locally I trust and these guys. WAY TO GO!!! VERY happy customer!!

I have never had a problem with FENDER it's The Midle Man that screws things up. or the B.B.T. :lol:

Yes, Fender has always been helpful to me too. They should get props more often than they do, great people. :D

Fender, IMO, is one of the large companies left in the world that still seem to understand how important their customers are. I've heard a LOT of people complaining about Fender's customer service, and I think about 9 times out of 10, it's not that Fender wasn't helpful it's just that they didn't give the answer the customer wanted. I'm a loyal Fender customer, and have NEVER had an issue that they couldn't help me with.

I completely agree with you tim. It seems that now days that a lot of big companies put customer service by the wayside in pursuit of money. Cool thing about fender is that they can do both (in my own experience). Anytime I have had a need to contact them, they have always been very helpful in giving me the information that I have needed.

I have had a few guitars over the past couple years and have always been happy with my fender products. After this experience, I am a devoted fender customer. Not to say that les pauls, sg's, es335's or anything like that are bad, but as i'm sure most of you reading this would agree, it all comes down to what you like and what feels good in your hands.

My MIM stratocaster is my favorite (and my only one right now) guitar I have ever owned. Once I get her all situated, i'll share pictures with you folks. :-)

I've never had any reason to contact customer service in the 15+ years owning Fender products. I see that as a good thing.
