Hey all, me again, with yet another query on yep, you guessed it another amp. I'm actually looking at two possibilities, one being a Fender super sonic, for $850, and a Rivera fandango 55 for $995. The fandango is worth twice the $995 new, is a hand wired beauty, but the super sonic looks mighty tasty to me as well. As always, i'm scrounging for opinions from the more experienced guys here, and thanks in advance. Regards, dave.

Check out Blackstar Amps. In that same price range they make 40 and 60 watt amps.

Likewise Egnater. Wide range of wattages and prices, but all with a design sensibility that places great sound and remarkable versatility first. Tweaker, Rebel and Renegade Are all very interesting amps.

You won't go wrong with the Fandango. There is a "Vintage/Modern" switch on the back panel which allows you to run half power which is quite useful as it brings the amp's power into Deluxe Reverb territory. The controls are a bit tricky to get used to because dialing one will affect another. The controls interact with each other. It takes a little getting used to but it is quite simply the sweetest sound amp I've ever owned. The reverb is the most luschious you'll find anywhere. The Fandango has awesome chime and spank and is very breathy. The longer I have mine the more I realize I can never part with it. Ever. And I've parted with lots of Fender amps.

I bought the matching extension cab but it's perfectly fine as a lone combo.

I'm a huge fan of Rivera, but I agree with the Blackstar and Egnater suggestions. However...$995 is a great deal for a Fandango in good working condition.

+1

It's more than a great deal, it's a steal.

I will be lambasted for this blasphemy, but check out the silverface master volume Fender amps...they really are good amps, they're just not exactly what we expect when hearing the words "Twin Reverb" or "Super Reverb"...

They would have been smart to give them different names, I think they would have been more accepted.

Thanks very much everyone, for the great input. I just spoke with the gentleman selling the amp, and as he's a older fellow who has apparently used the amp very little, and just doesn't use it any more, and has sent me some very clear pictures of it that look like it's indeed in very pristine condition. He says that the amp is only about a year and a half old and he is the only owner. After reading a bunch of reviews online that tell of some people that will never part with theirs like you said BMW-KTM, i'm going over to see it tomorrow, and if it's as nice as it looks, i'm jumping on it. I have seen the amp priced around $2200.00 new all over the place, including on the bay, so yeah, it looks like one of those deals that come along only now and then in the Madison Wisconsin craigslist postings.

I think it'd behoove you to pick that amp up if it's in good shape (assuming we're still talking about the Rivera, of course). Even if you end up hating it, you could make an easy couple hundred extra bucks if you decided to get rid of it. I have a feeling if all is as it seems with the amp, you'll be very happy if you end up with it.
Good Luck.

played through a rivera a few times over the years and always thought they were decent but too pricey...that said this seems like an excellent deal and if you got the peso's go for it. If worse comes to worst you could flip it for a profit
