one thing i've learned is.get the best you can for the best price you can.try a payment plan.If you really want it or need it,ask your mom or dad if you can pay half and work the rest off.try going for a gibson now then work what you dont have off. :D

I actually plan on using a payment plan to pay for this guitar. I was going to go in and put down $100 then pay it off until it's paid for. So like October  I know they will do that for me. :)

It's almost like you're vigorously trying to have every single thing about your plans regarding this guitar to be wrong. You're determined, and you are not listening to what everyone here is saying. Do you know how interest works? No way the store is doing that for you without charging interest. If you have the guitar in your hand but have put down only $100, you will be getting charged interest. Probably something ridiculous like 19%. So you will pay something like $500, when it's all said and done, for a $399 guitar. Actually, I guess, a lower value guitar than that due to the "factory 2nd" factor. We've already told you the price of this guitar that is NOT a factory second is $399, tax free, free shipping, and probably you canget a 10%-15% discount off of that.

And no, they will not charge me interest. How I know this? I know this because my mom couldn't afford my first guitar right away. It was Christmas present to me and she went in and put a down payment and then paid it off over three weeks time. No interest. Please, again stop assuming things.

Or they're brooming off factory seconds that have no real market value in the first place.

That my son is called a Lay-by. Even though there is no interest, there usually is a booking fee and the product has to be payed for within 60days. At least, that is what mass market retailers do here. Payment plan, finance deal etc.. is something different.

There are awesome deals down here, 12 months no payments- 12 months interest free. Pay it off over a year- home and hosed!!. Deals like that a plenty down my neck of the woods!! :D

By the way, buy what you will- at the end of the day it is your choice. I wont argue. :)

^^^ I like this guy
Yes I believe they call it Lay-Away up here. I was asking my mom about when she did it and she said that I just need to talk to them and set up a plan. Go in there and tell them when you can afford to pay it off and how much you can put down right away.

You asked the forum for advice but you seem adverse to heeding it. Why ask in the first place? I'm not trying to be confrontational, but rather attempting to prove a point.

You seem pretty set on this guitar and purchasing method no matter what people say, so just get it. You'll be happy once it's in your hands and that's all that matters when it comes to buying guitars.

I bought a white entry-level (read: cheap) squier with my own money back in the day when i first started playing and loved it. A year later, I wanted a "real" strat, so i had to go raise even more money than before and get one. I learned that maybe I should have waited longer to get a guitar, and get the one that I actually wanted, rather than the one I could originally afford. Rarely are they the same guitar.

You've lived your whole life without this epi, so maybe it won't kill you to raise more money and get a Gibson lp.

In the end though, who are we to tell you what to do? Do what feels right. THAT'S the golden rule of guitar buying.

I've thought about this a lot actually. I just think I would rather build my collection first. I want a Tele, I want an SG, I want an acoustic. I found a guitar I really do like. I don't necessarily want to spend all my money at once, but it is for something I really want.

And to those saying I don't like what people are telling me and that I don't like what I'm hearing, you're right. I asked a question of if the price of the instrument was right. I didn't want people to tell me not to get the guitar. That's okay though, I respect their opinion.

Super Kid, if something is worth $2,000, no seller will sell it for $300. I don't care what it is. Things get sold for what they are worth.

I'M TALKING ABOUT MY STRAT. willkinson bridge, sperzel locking tuners, birds eye maple neck.costom built for some guy who needed some fast cash.so as john lennon would say,"SHURUP!!!!"
