Yes but that doesn't mean I have to sell it. BTW does anybody know where Epi's are made?

I'm sure you can get the mom-n-pop store to come down a bit on the price if you show them the Musician's Friend ad. The owners of such stores are used to haggling a bit on their prices. They'd rather have the sale at a smaller profit margin than lose your business altogether.

I believe most of the Epi's are made in China. Great guitars for the money if you go to the higher end like the LP Tribute.

fenderflamestrat, if someone takes the time to research and recommend a store or name brand, don't accuse them of working for them. I get that all the time and it just pisses me off. :?

Yep, the price you quoted is really high especially for a second. Look around. Don't overlook Mom and Pop stores. Their prices really aren't that far off from the big boys though the selection usually is. I deal with Mom and Pop shops all the time and if they have the make and model I want, I support them even if it is a couple of bucks more.

Also remember, you asked the question. The thing is it seems like you don't like the answers.
No biggie, it's your money.

I don't mind the answer's, it's just the way it was delivered. He didn't have to accuse me of wasting my parent's money.

I don't buy anything from places besides the local shop. Probably because I go there every week for lessons  I prefer giving them my money over a corporate giant such as a Guitar Center whenever possible.

All the more reason to see if they can come down a little bit for you on the price. I'd figure the owners of the store would want to make sure that their loyal customer is satisfied.

I'd still go new instead of a 2nd. Not that I have anything against used gear, I have plenty of it. The lifetime warranty alone on the new axe would be worth it.

You do know that it's still a new guitar right? The second just means that it has a knick somewhere on the finish. Like I said earlier, 90% of the time they can't find it and that is the case with this one.

Sure......

Like an incorrectly-glued neck tenon, a hairline fracture between the tuner holes in the headstock, a mis-aligned bridge and/or tailpiece, binding separation on the body......

Enjoy your "new guitar".

Perhaps it'll make for a pretty "wall-hanger" in your rec room......

I've bought stuff that was marked as a "factory second" many times. But unless and until I determine PRECISELY why it's a second, and that defect (whatever it may be) does not affect the item's primary purpose, I never lay my Platinum Visa card on the counter.

CAVEAT EMPTOR!

You should be. It's not about the finish, it's what's going on under it. It would be a shame to plunk down your hard earned bucks on a pretty looking guitar that can't stay in tune or have serious intonation problems. Especially when you can get a new one cheaper.

So after my quick look on Google, all I can come up with is that factory seconds are purely cosmetic and will not affect playability in any way. This may help, but I need to look some more. :?

That's what "they" want you to think.
