R.I.P. Jani Lane Warrant

He was actually a very talented guy, who was very honest about how he wished he never wrote "Cherry Pie". Interestingly, the Cherry Pie album was right about to be released as "Uncle Tom's Cabin" with the lead single of the same name. At the time Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me" was breaking big, and the record company wanted a similar song for the soon-to-be-released Warrant album. Hence, "Cherry Pie" was born. Jani hated the fact that it was how he would always be remembered. Too bad, really, as the song "Uncle Tom's Cabin" was an excellent song that stands up well even today.
