The main reason that "most" giveaways are restricted to the US is because of the complicated and convoluted differences in trades, tariff and import laws internationally. Having said that I wouldn't mind one bit if all that kept me from winning was paying $200 in tarriffs to get a $2000 Strat or Tele,I gladly $200,it would still be a win win for me.

Exactly and anyone would, if their financial status allows them, gladly pay the money if they won something that's worth that much - and in case they do win and can't afford to pay it - they can still say "please vote another participant"

I'm another who can't apply as I'm in the UK. Even if they opened it up the whole world it'd be quite unlikely that anyone outside the USA would win because or the sheer number of people in the USA who have computers compared to other countries.

You look at the activity log for almost any website and you'll see how American visitors far outweigh people from other countries.

I would say it wouldn't be hard for Fender to write off a new guitar and send it to one of their distributers.. I mean, I would shell out the gas money to drive across the north island to get it. I'ts not an uncommon thing to happen from manufacturers with promos, giveaways, retail staff incentives etc..

Again very disappointed the giveaway is only opened in USA apparently.
C'mon Fender, when are we Europeans going to get our share of giveaways, after all we do buy your gear at higher cost than USA people (my Mustang IV costed 150$ more than if I bought it in USA), hardly seems fair, doesn't it?

I think that you guys should quit complaining.

Every time I buy a copy of "Guitar Technique" it costs me $15 plus tax and I'm not allowed to win any of the monthly contests or to be able to subscribe and get a promo gift along with a cheaper subscription rate. You guys want to act like that and we'll act our way! (Whatever that is.)

Seriously though.... Isn't the price difference between your cost for gear and ours up to your local taxes? As fas I'm concerned we're paying too much for Fenders and Gibby's and we can't buy any of those yummy Lemon Drop LP's. I want one BADLY!

:x

Why can't there be some competitions open to outside U.S residents ? We have to pay heaps more for guitars. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I've never won anything in my life, so I'm not sure why I signed up for it. If this is the one thing I ever win, I'm not sure how I'll feel.
