Cool...I entered. Maybe one of these years I'll actually win a guitar; I must have entered a hundred giveaways since I started playing.

Again very disappointed the giveaway is only opened in USA apparently.
C'mon Fender, when are we Europeans going to get our share of giveaways, after all we do buy your gear at higher cost than USA people (my Mustang IV costed 150$ more than if I bought it in USA), hardly seems fair, doesn't it?

Yes glad I'm not alone on this..it's frustrating enough to suffer shorter warranty periods (ie in my country only 2 years, in USA I hear it's 5 years) and higher price but then we also get the middle finger in these competitions? It's very rude..and I'm not talking just about Europe, let's not forget other continents beside USA as well..

say you entered, and won. You might end up paying for shipping, customs, and import duty etc.

Thought- is this why we pay extra in europe? and why we cannot enter the competitions?? maybe...its very annoying...

No reason for a shorter warranty though...

Surely europeans, asians, australasians etc together make up more than fenders USA customers??? You would think that would be worth something...

Maybe mexicans can buy mexican fenders cheaply, likewise the japanese too. :) :) :)

I'll accept fenders apology in the form of a custom shop strat, dolphin blue, heavy relic, maple C neck, silver lipstick pickups, and hard case.

Well I believe everyone would be prepared to pay that, if needed, however the same way they cover the shipping costs throughout USA they could cover the shipping cost to other continents as well. Anyway even if they wouldn't - I'm sure most of us would be prepared to pay that in case we actually win the prize.

Still I doubt the 150$+ for a normal amp is just the cost of shipping and for other costs I doubt they, as a big firm, really have to pay
Like you said in either case that's no reason for a 3 years shorter warranty.

Yeah one would definitely think that 4 billion potential customers outweigh the potential 2 billion or so, especially since the 4 billion potential customers already pay more and due to the shorter warranty period receive less in return.. [sarcasm]But hey, what do we know about business and money?[/sarcasm]

ha yeah,

i think the size of Fender as a company doesn't affect how much it costs them to ship stuff that much. They can ship in bulk to reduce costs, but they still have to pay...(or we do...) :)

I take it you mean millions???

hopefully fender might finally realise their mistake...or I'll move to Gibson.......oh dam....

at least we've got Blackstar and Marshall, I wonder if they're cheaper in the UK and EU???

They definitely get discount and true, we have to pay - but we overpay ;)
No, billions of potential buyers - ie if everyone on these continents would start playing a guitar :P no one can say for sure, beside Fender, how many customers do they really have on each continent.
I've already part moved to Gibson - always wanted a Fender Strat.. Bought Gibson Les Paul instead, although to be honest when I get the cash I might consider buying a Fender Strat too..
Wouldn't honestly know as Marshall amps are too expensive for me (tried one in the shop, 50W and it wasn't a tube as far as I know, it costed 350€ and sounded a lot worse than Mustang). As for Blackstar - can't say a thing really.

Yes indeed. I enter just about every random giveaway I come across. Doesn't cost me anything and maybe one day I'll win something cool. (Well I did just win a nice amp stand, that's pretty cool!)
