I certainly am concerned for our London brethren but I find it difficult to believe that the shooting death of a known gang leader who was apparently armed himself would be the sole cause of the unrest London is experiencing. I would be interested in what the Londoners think the underlying causes might be. The media in the US is certainly not asking. They tend to paint the picture of an innocent father of four gunned down by an aggressive Police Force. I pray you guys remain safe from harm.

Police here in the US kill innocent people every year,you don't hear much about that either,I see it on the local news when they goof up in Nashville and somebody dies.
In our county a deputy was killed by a man who had forced his ex-wife off the road and the officer had just seen it and thought it was just a fender bender,the guy shot the officer before he could even get out of his car,then he shot himself.
I felt bad for the deputy,it happened less than two blocks from the police dept.,the wife worked there as a dispatcher...it makes the police kind of jumpy,and I can understand why,but it can make someone make a wrong move also with deadly results.
We live in a crazy world.

This is awful. I live in Acton, west london, and its getting closer. Has been in Ealing, now shepherds bush is rumoured to be burning. A sony warehouse was burnt down a while back which has meant the music business is now getting effected as well.

complete mindless anarchy. No political reasoning at all, is now just the feral chav kids (they are all between 12 and 18 from what ive seen) going wild and trying to grab what they can in the looting. Im unsure where the burning down of shops with unevacuated blocks of flats above them fits into their warped mindsets, just evil stupidity.

im just being sent home from the hospital where i work in hammersmith now as apparantly its heading our way. Its awful, truly horrible. Struggling to describe it. Suffice to say a daydreaming musician like myself is finding it all a bit much. Im physically shaking and have hardly slept as the news channels just keep telling us more and more thats happening. Theres no kids on the streets round here at all, and i think i know where they are, getting their piece of the action. We have a major problem here, its hardly the mods and rockers of the 60`s and the `kids will be kids` thing, this is just fearless, mindless, ambitionless, directionless criminality. I want to move away. Its been uneducated directionless yobs breeding more little directionless yobs for too long and i dont know how any of this can be fixed now. I despair. Id write a song about it, but i wouldnt want to glamourise this in any way shape or form.
Had better go, im taking the back routes home tonight

Riots start when people see no future. It happened in the Arab world, it happened in France, it happens in the UK now. Unemployment rates of around 30%, a very strict and limited schooling system, some Arab countries have all the religious trouble, the youth are completely blocked from any prospect of success, marriage, leading a good life.

I'm not saying it's OK - I'm saying I understand where it comes from. But it has to be stopped immediately.



The press is just one side of the coin. The other side is uneducated people who don't understand anything about history, culture, society, economics and political systems. If people can't understand what they read, any press won't help. Then they start to watch FOX news on TV.
