Laugh all you want, but it was cool at the time.

All I can say is that SHORTS are the one piece of clothing that are never acceptable on stage. Even if you're playing an outdoor gig in the middle of summer, you should not be wearing shorts. The only one who can get away with it is the drummer - because he's behind the kit and no one sees his legs.

Who no shorts? Because shorts are the most un-bandlike thing you can wear. It looks like some dummy from the crowd got up there and picked up an instrument.

OOPS!

Since Stratos shared their band photo in shorts, thought I'd do the same. What were we thinking, "looking like some dummy from the street got up there and grabbed an instrument."

Why even ask what's acceptable attire? Everyone has worn everything on stage and no matter what you say is or is not cool, someone will get their nose out of joint because they've worn it before.

You wear what's appropriate to your venue, band, and style of music. If you're a party band, then Aloha shirts and shorts, if you're a 40's big band, then tuxes or suits.

Whatever floats your boat.

8) Eric has earned the privilege. Yes it is a formal venue but Joe wears suits alot. Its part of his image just like his sunglasses on stage. Besides who wants to dress in a suit for a 15 minute jam...(well I would if it got me a chance to jam with either one of them...)

+1000

E.C. has earned the right to dress any way onstage that he wants to. After all, what's it about the most -- the music, or the way performers dress??

It's about the music, right up until you show your knees. Then it's game over.

I'd play that venue in a Hawaiian shirt and khaki Docksiders and Bass penny-loafers. Wait, I play every venue in that.

For anything I currently play, my Braves cap, light skate shoes, jeans, and t-shirt work just fine. :D If I got into blues shows, I might just have to go with a tux at a bigger venue. That would most certainly be fun.

I appeared on that stage at the Royal Albert Hall in '92. I was dressed up pretty well.

I see that some people mentioned thongs. That is not quite as orginal as you might think. Tommy Lee did it in the 80's and I found a photo of said attire with Tommy Lee in it. But because this is a family friendly forum I am not going to post the photo. But I'll post a link and a grave warning.

WARNING in the following link there is a photo of Tommy Lee wearing a thong and cloves and nothing else (if you don't count make up). Young children and those with weak hearts should not click the link, so superkid, I will tell your parents if you click that link  . REMEMBER: YOU CAN'T UNSEE WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN.

FOR YOUR HEALTH AND SAFETY DON'T CLICK THAT LINK
