And I know yall will call me blasphemous for even comparing these two and all that crap but seriously:
I am considering either an Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro or a Fender Standard Telecaster. I play Classic - Garage Punk - Psychadelic - Blues - Rock (alot to sum up right  ) But please help me make this decision. Im just looking for an all around amazing guitar thats well worth the hard earned money me and my parents are investing.

Negative Creep,

Play as many guitars in your price range. The one will let be evident when you find it. Here are some I'd consider:

Fender Blacktop Series--Play all and see if one fits your sound
Epiphone LP--Traditional Pro, Custom, or Ultra Series
Fender '72 Tele

Every low-buck Epi I've played was junk. Do yourself a favor... If you want single-coils, buy the Tele. If you want humbuckers for cheap, don't buy that Epiphone crap: do what I did and find yourself a lightly used PRS SE Singlecut. You can find them all over for around $350 with one of the nicest gig bags ever, and they will crush and do a little dance on a Epi LP.

I have heard nothing but good things about the Epi Trad. Pro. But I have never played one personally. As for the Blacktop series, I think they're great, and of course I'm gonna vote Tele; I'm more than a little biased.

As the owner of 6 Epis and one being a Traditional Pro I can state unequivocally that none of them are junk,As a matter of fact the build quality of Epiphones in a lot of cases lately surpasses a lot of Gibsons.

The Trad Pro is probably the most versatile guitar that Gibson/Epiphone makes now because of the coil tap.The single coil function isn't Stratlike and won't give you the quack of a Strat as it is more like a cross between a Jag and Mustang. The neck is chunkier than a Tele neck but isn't uncomfortable and the humbuckers sound so much like PAFs that it's uncanny.

I also own a Tele and I can say that they are fabulous guitars in their own right-but you already know that -right.For having the versatility of single coils and humbuckers in one guitar I'd be swayed more towards the Trad. Pro for the simple fact that they are only making a limited run of them and then they're gone-that's if what Epi says is true.So whereas you can get a Tele any time I'd go for the Trad. Pro.

+1...a fine instrument there. Schecter's build quality has been top notch in my experience.

Saving up for one myself at the moment. I'm looking to have the DVS by the end of Sept.

I have a 2006 standard tele, I've had it about a year and a half and I play basically the same styles as you. I vote get on of them and do the 4 way switch mod if you need humbucker tones.

I could not possibly disagree with you more on that point. Except for the pickups the Epiphone Les Pauls are perfectly fine guitars. I actually prefer the Epiphones over the (newer) Gibsons, they are that good.

To each his own but I would never discourage someone from considering an Epiphone LP.

My 2 cents

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Also consider an epiphone dot or casino for similar money.

I vote Telecaster. You can easily modify that puppy to your heart's desire.

Can't go wrong with the Tele. You can make a Tele sound similar to a Les Paul, but not the opposite. I've got an Epi Les Paul Custom that's a good, decent guitar in its own right, but since I bought my Tele, between it and my Strat, the Epi has become a Closet Queen. Both the Tele and the Strat are much more versatile than any Les Paul, IMHO.
