Ringo and the Smothers Brothers performing the No No Song. Watch for Super Dave Osbourne as the cop at the end of the skit.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVGerWFY ... re=related

I was in a band in the late 70's that played this one late in the show, when the crowd was good and lubricated. They loved it.

It was fun. The singer didn't even have to sing it most of the time. The entire bar would just sing it for us, sloshing beer around as they sang. I bet it would work today once the crowd learned the song.

By the way--on the Smothers Brothers show "Super Dave Osbourne" played a character known as Officer Judy.

Man I loved the Smothers Brothers. They were so controversial, pissed off more branches of government then I can think of. Those clean cut boys were big time counter culture hippies. You couldn't even put a show like that on the air today. There'd be congressional hearings, FCC fines, behind the scenes pressure on the network by the likes of Rove and Cheney. Damn they were good.

..................which is exactly why something like that is needed today.

My ex GF was on the Smothers Brothers Show once. Then Tommy started dating her til I showed up. He used to call at first but finally gave up since I answered the phone a lot.

Can you imagine any performer today standing up to their network and showing any actual INTEGRITY???

Nope, can't imagine that at all today. Think about it....All in the Family, Maude, Good Times..even M.A.S.H. you couldn't air those shows today.
