Hi everyone, hope all is well. After years of playing electrics, I've been trying to get into acoustics. I'd like to try and add a acoustic set to our bands gigs. I am looking for a good sound hole pick-up for my 1977 guild. It's a jumbo with maple back and sides. I play blues and classic rock. Thank-you for your input, Dutch. :)

You know, I only have experience with one. But I can honestly say that it has a really nice sound. The Seymour Duncan Woody. A whole lotta flavor in that pickup.

Thanks, I'll have to try both out. Acoustic is a whole new territory for me.

You know, I'd have to say, it would be a nice feature having a volume control like the Fishman has. Something to consider.

I like this one too. Had a DiMarzio single-coil one. Can't remember what it was called, but it was an irritant- the polepieces used to get caught on the strings sometimes, the volume was all too easily adjusted by a pick... not cool.

Switched to a Woody, immediately nicer tone. Very quiet- it is passive after all- but it's a nice sound for the money!

I have a Yamaha soundhole pickup that's coupled with an underbridge transducer and just has a simple panning controll to regulate the balance between the pickup and transducer. There's no model number or anything written on the pickup but the Yamaha logo but it is by far the absolute best and most authentic soundhole pickup I've used.

I've heard very good things about the LR Baggs M-1, though its quite pricey.

+1...I've had a few different soundhole pickups, and the SD was my favorite. I had a Dean Markley that was pretty good also; I can't find a link to one anywhere, but it was a black cylinder that had spring loaded clips on each end.
