Because he isn't currently endorsed by fender, and he doesn't have a current artist series guitar.

To be in the artist section you need to endorse Fender. This is a legal agreement between the artist and the company. Making an agreement requires you to be alive at the time of the endorsement deal of course, otherwise how can you negotiate an agreement? It isn't required to play Fender exclusively, for example Eric Clapton plays other makes in public also. Deceased musicians are less "artists" than they are "brands" with corporate lawyers, agents and family members who complicate things as they want to "clean up" on the legacy of the dear departed. In many cases recording artists rack up more sales dead than alive. For example Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, Janis Joplin all generated far more income from their brand dead than they ever did alive. It would be even more capitalistic to issue a Cobain model since he isn't around to help design it or even approve of it having his name on it.

He already has the Jagstang (A whole new guitar rather than just a variation on a current model) even though it's unfinished and discontinued I think that it is good enough for Kurt. He is dead anyways, so Fender wouldn't be able to release a signature model.

Kind of ironic a guy named "Brainless" is posting on a Kurt Cobain post right, get it

First genuine laugh of the day. Nice!

And as above... he had his own model made for him. I'd say that's pretty good going.
