Joe Walsh, another guitar player who doesn't get much mention on these sites. Anyone remember the James Gang? Joe's solo stuff like So What? before he was asked to join the Eagles? There's a lot of good work there.

Here's Funk #49. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_qHU_6Ofc0

I loved that "James Gang Rides Again" album.

Their live album seemed to be a great unknown album, but I see that it's finally been released on CD.

I remember watching Joe Walsh and friends on Don Kirshners Rock Concert. I was suitably altered and downed an entire bag of Dorito's. Don Felder from the Eagles was part of the band. It was shortly after that show that Joe was asked to join the Eagles. He changed that band big time.

Yeah its kind of a bummer that some of his best work in the past 15 years or so has been his appearances on the Drew Carey show...

Joe's been a strat guy for a long time, I wonder how well a Joe Walsh sig strat would do?

No, Joe did a James Gang reunion tour not too long ago. I've heard some tapes and the shows were pretty entertaining.

I caught Joe during the So What? tour. Now that was a fun concert. Joe was a mad man when he was younger. All those cliches of bands trashing hotel rooms, tearing up towns after a show......Joe was all of that and more. Now he's almost 60 and still seems a bit nuts. Good for him.

Esoteric Joe Walsh question: at the Crossroads before last, he was playing an interesting custom ax when backing up James Taylor on a blues tune. It had a single bridge pickup with a smooth chrome cover. Anybody know what that was?

As much as I like the Eagles (Don Henley and Glenn Frey) and respect their body of work I feel like Joe is the most talented songwriter and most brilliant musician in the 'band'. I don't really consider T.B. Schmidt to be much more than a hired gun. Same thing for Joe.
