i guess that really did work for me SA if that really is your name

My parents were tough, but they weren't cruel. They wouldn't have saddled me with a name that ridiculous.

I saw the picture of your Squier. I like the color (candy apple red?). I don't know why you were so insistent on posting various pics of 50s-style sunburst Strats--you have a good-looking axe, and that's a guitar you can be proud of...if it's really yours.

When I first started playing guitar, I was so eager to play, and wanted to learn so much so quickly that I probably irritated some other (more experienced) players with questions. I wanted to be the link between Muddy Waters, Kim Wilson and Keith Richards (I have never succeeded), but I knew it wouldn't do to try to BS the guys I was pestering...they would have called me on it much harsher than any of us have done to you. I found a few guys who were willing to put up with the skinny white kid who wanted to be a "bluesman" (interestingly, it was the older African American musicians of Fort Worth who were most tolerant and supportive...guys closer to my age and race were generally jerks).

This is before the internet existed, so books, records, magazines and people were the only sources of information readily available.

You have a great resource here, don't abuse it by trying to pull one over on us.

Everybody gets an Act II (a second chance). Be cool and don't blow it.

BTW, if you're really a big fan of Buddy Holly, you might want to read Waylon Jennings' autobiography. If you're under sixteen, get your parents' permission, because he's very forthright about the drugs, women and the lifestyle of "the road," and he wrote in the everyday (somewhat foul) language he normally spoke. It wasn't the worst book I ever read, but if you or your parents are easily offended, just skip it.

Waylon was Buddy's bass player on that last tour, and they were fast friends. Some of what Waylon wrote gives you a good first-hand account of Buddy's last days.

well for your info i played the Strat for a year and the fretboard started to get wear. so buzz off with the imposter crap

Yo kid, I've had my Strat for 39 years and don't have that kind of wear and played it almost everyday since it was new. Unlike you, we weren't born yesterday, and you did steal the photo, the address you stole it from is embedded in the photo. If I was the photographer, I'd be after you for copyright infringement.

The best thing I'd suggest for you is to learn everything you can from us geezers and stop the bullshit with trying to impress people here and learn what you can.

OK, ladies and gentlemen; the kid admitted his fault and is trying to get through his sins of the recent past. Let's all move forward and let him be.

...and FenderGuy1--you're probably going to encounter a little bit of hostility for a while, especially from the guys you argued with or sniped back at during your little fantasy scenario.

Take your lumps and don't retaliate, because you created this situation. This too will pass, if you let it.

What Hendrix album are you listening to?
