I guess the next thing he'll try to get us to believe is that he a Strat signed by Beethoven.

   What a waste of bandwidth this guy is. I like how the guitar in the first picture is all beat up, and the second one looks good as new. I want to know what kind of cleaning products he's using. "Cleans so good it repairs paintchips and fretboard wear!"

Apparently he's discovered an additional use for Clearasil.

Like I said earlier, you're full of crap, and I stand by the imposter remark I made also.
now I also think you're an idiot.
oh yeah...and a liar.

No really, I've got a photo of him playing it!

He recently cleaned it again so the sunburst faded a bit because all the colour wanted to be back with Buddy's wife and the museum that he gave it to but then the museum gave it back so he could put a Floyd Rose on it and buy an original 1954 Strat with the leftover sheep feathers.

I mean, duh.

Or given that he posted a third picture of yet another obviously different guitar on another thread, also claiming it was Buddy Holly's and in his possession - it could all be intended as an amusing in-joke.

But if so then I think on a public internet forum a joke needs a slightly more obvious punchline. (See, we're all giving you alternate outs, FenderGuy1. Take one, would be friendly advice.)

Anyway. So happens I am the owner of Jimi Hendrix's genuine, actual Strat, the one he burned at Monterey. I was sold it by his daughter. Or mother. Or someone. Anyone want to buy it for a million dollars? Here it is - a picture I've just taken myself in my White Room:

I once owned a Les Paul now owned by the great and wonderful Wizard of Birmingham, our own Niki
He took it from me by plying me with Guinness Ale...his accomplices are also board members and I've called in Scotland Yard to pursue further inquiries. In fact, after reading the hacked emails of these bandits, they will be swooping down like constipated hawks to make arrests.

According to R. U. Ajakkov's biography of Charles Harden, the young singer/songwriter actually played a MIC Squier.

Hmm. So this all hasn't been a gag, huh?

Then guys, I think there may be a different explanation, and a reason why we shouldn't be unkind to FenderGuy1, but leave him alone to imagine whatever he wants to.

I'm going to quietly move on from this now.

Cheers - C

Hi FenderGuy1: I'm not interested in making anyone unhappy on an internet forum.

But I do politely suggest you take the deep breath Mr Screamin' Armadillo recommended in his first post on page one of this thread. He's a nice guy; he's being constructive.

Movin' on.

Cheers - C

Okay, a few years ago the Fender Custom Shop was allowed to spec out and clean up Sir Buddy's Stratocaster. I seem to remember reading about it in Guitar Player :?:
One of the cool little "surprises" was a pick found underneath the pickguard.

Here's a pic of John Page (of the Fender Custom Shop) holding Mr. Holly's Strat after cleaning and restoration:
Image

There were reports that the Custom Shop was to release a tribute replica sometime in 2010, but as far as I know, there has never been a Buddy Holly Signature Strat nor has there been a Custom Shop model (like the exact replicas of Clapton's "Blackie", SRV's "#1" and "Lenny", or Muddy Waters' "Hoss"). If there has been one, it was an extremely limited release, because I never heard about it and I am interested in most things relating to Buddy (my fellow Texican).

Difficulty in dealing with Maria Elena might have something to do with the absence of any kind of Buddy Holly tribute/signature model/whatever. (I hold Maria Elena in the same regard as NikiNinja holds Janie Hendrix).

The fact that Buddy Holly was playing a (basically) dead-stock 1958 (not 1957) Strat with three-color sunburst finish and a maple fretboard (interesting, rare, but not unique) might have something to do with the reason he has never had a signature model, too.

The first pic is not Buddy's guitar; his '58 (at least the third Strat he owned, by the way--several previous Strats--a '55 & '57 were stolen) is in dang near mint condition...considering he only owned/played it for a short period of time, that's why his would not have the wear and tear of the pic you posted.

The second pic is a different guitar. If you actually own it, you probably have a really nice 50s reissue of some sort (I don't know if it's MIA, MIJ, CIJ or MIM from the picture provided). It is vaguely similar to Buddy Holly's Strat--a dead-stock sunburst with simple white pickguard--but that is a two-color, not three and the grain doesn't even vaguely match. Those aren't even pictures of the same guitar.

At best, you have a Strat similar to what Buddy Holly owned.

If I can give you a bit of advice:
You're very enthusiastic, and that's cool.
I assume you're young, and that's cool, too--we have a lot of young members of this forum that contribute a lot.
You seem interested in some cool music--Buddy Holly (or Holley, if you want to spell it like his birth certificate), Brian Setzer, etc. It warms my heart that there's still young people interested in that style/era of music.

Chill out a little. We know you once played a Gretsch through a HRDlx. That's cool..but don't tell us in every post you make.
We know you are trying to figure out what amps, pedals, guitars, etc. make what sounds (we all are!), but don't argue with us when we tell you what gear does what.

Be cool, and keep rockin'...but don't try to impress us with stuff that just can't be true.

Impress us by making some progress as a player, collector and enthusiast.

i guess that really did work for me SA if that really is your name Tell the Armadillo child to keep rocking and not to turn out as voodoo as Hendrix was
