It happens all to often to me. You play the same thing over and over again and then I get bored of it so i start to look for new riffs to own at but nothing seems interesting and i have no desire to complete an entire song. I just picked up my KISS book and there are some pretty awesome tunes in there but they all have insane solo's so I'm not really into it. :?

Help anybody? Please? :(

Yep, it happens to all of us. One thing that helps, but may not be that practical, is having an upcoming gig. I don't gig that often, so when I do, it tends to keep me focused and interested. Truth is, sometimes you just have to walk away from it for a while. When that happens to me, I often try to focus on playing something completely different than what I've been working on. I play a little mandolin, and that's a great way to change your musical mindset for awhile. Try grabbing your acoustic, if you have one, and playing some old folky stuff, teach yourself to fingerpick, play slide.

Sounds like a rut--just have to either try new stuff, take a break, or try a different instrument.
Even small changes like play an acoustic instead of an electric or vice versa--try an open tuning or something like that can help.

Ways to get through the plateaus we all hit:

Try an alternate tuning.

If you already play an alternate tuning (or more), try to play a song you normally play in 440/standard in Open G (or vice-versa).

If you use a lot of effects, plug directly into your amp and play with none at all.

If you play with no effects, buy or borrow a couple and go crazy with them.

Try to play slide.

Try to play without a pick (if you use one) or with a pick (if you don't).

Write a song...it doesn't matter how simple, silly or stupid it is--just keep writing. You said you like KISS--steal the rhythm line from a three-chord rocker and make your own lyrics or add a bridge or play it "upside down" (i.e., if the riff goes up in pitch, you go down--or vice-versa).
--BTW, You might think your song isn't any good, but you'd be surprised how others might respond to it.
A song I wrote when I was 20 years old--a simple little 50's semi-rockabilly/Chuck Berry-style ditty that I never thought much of--is a show-stopper in our gigs to this day; people will dance to it, people request it, and people like it...and I wrote it in ten minutes to facilitate a newly mastered riff I had stolen from Keef.
The first time my drummer heard it (ten years after I wrote it), he thought it was an obscure old rock & roll tune he had never heard, and when he found out I wrote it, thought it was one of the best songs I ever wrote...and I'm still baffled, because I think it's just a silly little song.
WRITE A SONG!

....and finally, listen (via YouTube, a live performance, whatever) a band that isn't normally your taste...if you like rock, listen to a pop band, if you like country, listen to some jazz. At worst, you'll waste a couple of hours of your life...at best, you might find something new that you like.

+1 ... and try jazz too.
Trust me, there will be no plateau, just a constant learning curve that will make molehills out of your percieved mountains when you go back to rock 'n roll.

When I feel like I'm not inspired, or feeling bored with my playing, I like to watch live performances of great guitarists; that usually gets me fired up to jam again, and gives me good ideas.

Skirt So Plain took my idea, lol, I was going to suggest a good DVD, or anything with Billy Gibbons - there is something about his style that motivates me to new levels of playing - everytime I seen him live, I feel like I leave a better guitar player - dont know what it is, other than the fact he is friggin awesome!! lol - Check out some Joe Bonamassa stuff on YOU TUBE, I like to do that as well - Screamin's idea of writing a song is another bit of great advice!! Good luck with it bro, but yes, I believe we all lose inspiration at some point

+1 on Bonamassa! This clip right here is the cream of the crop IMO... http://youtu.be/46UFXQVSnKs

I also can't help but picking up a guitar after listening to Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
