The guy can play, but I've never been impressed by his phrasing, writing, etc. An iconic riff or two, but you know..

Randy was one of the 1st to incorporate classical scales in heavy rock.
original tone and style, too bad he didn't last a bit longer. RIP.

I don't know who Dave is, and I do know a lot of people named Dave.

I guess everyone can kneel before this perfect 10, though.

You may think Johnny is a perfect 10, but I'll give him a 7. Downstrokes, bar chords, and distortion was all he used. I would have given him 5 but he did make those simple tunes sound good.

How about one my favorites, Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones? (I thought he looked cool playing guitar and that's what got me to start playing guitar :D)

Welcome to the Forum MusicMan112. R.I.P. Leon Warren. Listened to a video of BB Kings band and Leon is great, lets call it a 10 out of respect.

Anyone heard of Zal Cleminson, one of my all time favorite rock guitarists.

Tommy Emmanuel

I've seen Phil Keaggy live and would easily give him a 10/10.

Tommy?

Cool stuff--8/10.

Jan Akkerman, anybody?

Jan Akkerman. Original Vandals guitar player back when they mattered. Now playing with Anarchy Inc. (formerly Anarchy Taco). Gotta give him a 9 on the punk rock meter.

Speaking of that. How about Kurt Kirkwood? (Look him up!)

You're thinking of somebody else.
I mean this guy-
http://www.janakkerman.nl/
He was mostly known years ago as the guitar player in Focus.
They were mostly known for the song, "Hocus Pocus"
Look that up--great riff.
So I'm still looking for a rating for Jan Akkerman, formerly of Focus.

Hocus pocus had some catchy riffage and he has some good jazz chops on his website. I'll give him a 6/10.

Kurt Kirkwood of the Meat Puppets
