Guitslinger, Glad to hear your getting through this so far. I thought this chart might help you out. I know it helped me when I was quitting. Stick with it. Although the cravings will return years after quitting, The desire subsides. 8) http://whyquit.com/whyquit/A_Benefits_Time_Table.html

"The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get." Weird how that Joe Walsh album title came into my head as I read through the four pages of this thread. Joe had a great sense of humor, with that title, didn't he?

Seriously, +1,000, Guitslinger!! You've encouraged me to try to quit again!! Just grab my Strat or Tele when the craving starts!

Congrats on quitting. 5 days and going, outstanding!!! Keep it up. Remember what you are quitting for, especially during any rough times. Stay strong.

Keep up the good work man, quitting was tough but I'm 2 1/2 years without a cigarette, and it's definitely worth it. And think of the shiny Rickenbacker!

Best of luck man, we are rooting for you!

Thanks for posting that time table Marvin-those pix at the end of it are scary enough to make anyone want to quit especially the emaciated 34 year old in the hospital bed.

Congrats on Quitting!!

I smoked a pack a day for about 20 years and quit about 8 years ago.

Man, it's unbelievable to be able to really smell things again!

I quit by using the patch. But I soon found myself being addicted to the patch :)

I loved them. Slap that baby on, and in about 10 minutes later you would start getting this nice warm buzz...and it is completely legal!

5 years after quitting, I ended up with cancer in one of my tonsils. They said it was from smoking and alcohol (sp) consumption.

Ya know, when I'm on a backpacking trip and hanging in a hammock, I still wish I was puffing on a $@!.

again, congrats and stick to it.

I remember a night a few decades ago when I had consumed enough that I completely understood that.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

GOOD ON YOU!!!!!!

Fave scary stat; a teaspoon of pure nicotine is capable of killing almost 100 people. There are more or less 1700 chemicals present in the combustion process of cigarettes.

"What's in your lungs?"

And...if you can't BREATHE, NOTHING else is important.

Best of fortune.
