Keep on trucking!

Think to that day a few months from now, you bring your new baby home, plug the cable in, flick that amp switch on, crank the volume up, and as you draw a deep clean breath of fresh air you'll think "Was it worth it?"

Then you'll strum the first few chords of a Beatles tune on that beauty and you'll know instantly.

You can do it!

Good for you, one of the best things you could ever do for yourself. How about sweetening the reward Ricky with a Vox amp? :D

Congrats,
John.E

Thanks for all the encouragement guys,it really helps strengthen my resolve.Super Kid thanks for posting pix of my wish list guitars.John E.-I already have the Vox amps so I'm jangle ready and I have my Marshalls too so I can get that Smithereens tone also with a bit of Townshend thrown in.I quit not only for the guitars but for my health and the fact that it's just so dumb to be literally burning money by investing it in cigarettes.

Excellent work, Guitslinger!! Keep it up. It's the very best thing you can do for your health, your pocketbook and of course, your guitar collection. :D

Peace,

Been there, done that. If you sneak a smoke, in two days you'll be right back where you started. I would ride a bike, take a walk or exercise if you get a bad craving. I started smoking when I was 11 years old and quit when I was 45. I feel way better now. Hang tough.
how did you manage to get a pack at 11????

Back in the day there wasn't a legal age to buy cigarettes. I used to buy them for my folks when I was 6 or 7 years old.

All you had to do is tell the guy at the drugstore they were for your father. It was a way different time. I'm talking 1966.

The cravings will fade after a while. After 5 days, it's the habit not the nicotine addiction taking over. You can do it.

Yes, I have heard that as well. Apparently the nicotine addiction is gone in like 72 hours or something. Very short lived anyway no matter what the actual number of hours is. After that it's all about the habit and more importantly it's about a decision. Sometimes we think we want something but our actions prove that we actually don't want it. I've quit smoking twice, both times for around 4 years or so, plus at least a half dozen times for between 8 and 12 months as well as literally countless times for 2 weeks to 2 months. If I keep going back to it I only prove to myself that I don't truly want to quit. Not after 4 years and even the habit is long gone. The truth is it all boils down to a decision.

Glad you made the right one.
Hope it sticks.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

That was a really rough few days for me. The nicotine withdrawal was pretty rough on me. Cold sweats, huge Anxiety, heart palpitations you name it, I had it. Some of it I'm sure was in my head but there just the same. I'm glad I'm still off them. The cost is a big factor now. In some places like New Jersey and the Pocono Mountains they can be from six to eight bucks a pack. I don't know how some of these kids do it.
