I'm now 5 days closer to my Rickenbacker and going through withdrawal like you wouldn't believe but when the cravings hit me I just pick up the book of beautiful Ricks that I bought the other day and that helps drive the craving away.8 months won't go fast enough for my liking.

The cravings will fade after a while. After 5 days, it's the habit not the nicotine addiction taking over. You can do it.

Keep up the good work!

You'll have some crazy, vivid dreams, but keep pushing.

You're doing ok. You had to quit sometime. If you do sneak a smoke, you're only cheating on yourself. Hang in there man. It's worth it. 8)

Been there, done that. If you sneak a smoke, in two days you'll be right back where you started. I would ride a bike, take a walk or exercise if you get a bad craving. I started smoking when I was 11 years old and quit when I was 45. I feel way better now. Hang tough.

You can do it, man! Hang in there!

A guitar is a great motivator. This is exactly how i got my MIM 60th Anniversary Strat.

I started smoking when I was 13 and quit when I was 35. That was 5 years ago now and I haven't had a cigarette since. Still want one from time to time, but I don't know if that will ever go away.

Still, keep a promise to yourself. It will be worth it!

Good for you buddy, i can tell you from experience that quitting smoking is one of the best things you will ever do for yourself. You can't begin to imagine just yet how awesome it is to be free of that horrible addiction! The benefits will amaze you after just a little while, you'll see, and you're going to love it man! Right now, august 3rd, my brother in law is in the milwaukee VA hospital in surgery for stage four throat cancer, getting his entire voice box etc removed because he wouldn't quit. Keep up the good work, you'll be so very glad that you did.

Yay, go for it buddy..

I was ill 3 years ago, with something called Guiliame Barre Syndrome. Hit me out of the blue and left me completely unable to walk for 6 weeks. Made a full recovery thankfully, but in retrospect 8 weeks in hospital did me a great favour. Couldn't get outside to smoke and dropped 20 pounds in weight. I don't seriously recommend that as a way to give up smoking, but the plight and worry I was in, meant I didn't miss the fags at all.

Good luck with it. And if the Rickkie helps you get through, more power to it.

Hmm, perhaps I should award myself a reward guitar retrospectively..

Guitslinger, those cravings will be gone soon. I mean completely. Tell everybody you've quit and stay in touch with your cheerleaders.

Avoid the places where people are smoking.

And keep telling yourself all the benefits you're going to enjoy being free of smokes.

A Rick. And clear lungs. Sense of smell. Taste. etc......

Good work so far Derek, don't give up now. You're not not doing it just for a guitar aren't you? Stay focused, after five days anything is possible, you can win this.

Way to go man. I'll be clean 13 years on Sept. 9. Best thing I ever did next to marry my wife ;-)
