Snowjoe, your tastebuds are good. That is completely true - odd, isn't it? Always a slight disappointment to drink Spitfire from the tap. Unbeatable in the bottle, though. It started out as a bottled beer, I believe: I wonder what they are getting wrong when putting it in kegs?

Anyway. When RussianRacehorse started his beer thread it inspired me to search out local beers in Devon, where I spend half my time. I was amazed at how many there turn out to be from a radius of just a few miles around. This is just a very few of those I've sampled - some good stuff there to put on your list (even a couple of - pah - Cornish ones...):

From another UK resident - +1 on the above. An absolutely superb pint of draft beer.

I've yet to find my fave brand, cause I always find something better later on down the line.

Ceri's choice of Bombardier and Spitfire always go down well too. If you're ever in Bham Ceri with a few hours to kill, I'll take you to the Prince of wales in Moseley. It's a right old dump, but all 3 of these is on draft and the Landlord keeps them very well too.

+1 on the Micro breweries too..

To all the Lager drinkers - well, a nice cold one on a hot day after some physical graft is always welcome, but it's hardly in the same league. Except on the Continent where there are some fabulous Lagers (or Blonde Biers) as they like to call them Belgium - specifically the Sol Brewery in Bruges - turns out fabulous dark and blonde beers, that go down nicely after you've toured the brewery..

I've never drank that much. Too much of a fitness nut.

I like a beer on a hot day after a long hike...something light and refreshing. Miller light...Keystone, etc. When on holidays a Corona.

Speaking of which, I never drink whan playing guitar. I always get free coffee. No idea how band mates could drink and still perform. I'm useless after a beer.

Like to have a beer around the house, or during a Packer party or something. Just don't partake when I'm driving, not worth taking a chance.

But if it's a gig night or I'm driving to practice or something then I reach for a non-alcoholic beverage......

right now its this. Wife just bought a case of it for me to enjoy tomorrow when we have a couple of friends over for dinner. Can't wait.
