Ladies and Gentlemen, I just spent 2 weeks worth of work on this 1996 (50th Ann. Year-Whoop-de-doo) Am. Deluxe P. Bass.

Allow me to explain the horrible picture. First, as a player I hold true to that the first take is the only take. Second, my mother took it and third, I want to play the thing. Add to the fact I was trying to look bada$$ and you have a not so great picture. That being said, enjoy.
Image

Now to distract you from that picture, see if you can find the raccoon.

Finally, let's finish up with a close up of that nice ash wood grain.

I will now spend the next couple hours polishing frets and putting on strings. Ah, new Bass day, the only thing that would be nearly as good would be new amp day....

The raccoon is dead-center in the frame, showing minimum-target aspect.

Do you wish me to "dispatch" him?

Mere child's play for a 3-rd burst from my M-4......

(and that's a helluva nice P-Bass special!!!)

8)

Well, 3 hours later I have returned with more pictures.

First, I had to take the guitar into the shop to get some fret polishing done as well as a new set of strings. So if anyone ever wondered how cool a blue bass would look with a blue fingerboard, here you go:

Bass in case with new strings and nicely polished frets:

After plugging in for a while, let me say with new strings and a fresh battery this thing is bright, like telecaster bridge pickup bright. Might have to pick up some flatwounds or something to try and mellow out the brightness a bit so I can use the 9V boost. Other than that, these active pickups really drive an amp. My poor Sunn BA160 combo didn't know what to think, but eventually after tweaking I was able to get some nice rumble. Overall, I'd say this was $800 well spent. That and I must say that the transparent blue finish is freaking sweet, I'm starting to think White Blonde may now be my second favorite Fender color...

Good on ya... I know how sweet that bass is because I have one too, from the same year, only mine is Shoreline Gold with a maple board. I have TI flats on mine, which only increased its playability and versatility. I also put a Fender Original '57/'62 P-bass pickup in mine after the original p-pup died in its sleep.

Congrats... Mine is my favorite bass of all times.

Congrats, that's a good looking bass. Love the see-through finish.

The Raccoon isn't too bad, either. :P

Really nice bass! The see through finishes are the best. I still like the see through blonde the best.

BTW, I see TWO raccoons in that tree.
