One of my biggest musical thrills was sitting in with Buddy and Junior Wells back in the ‘80s. He was, and still is so humble about his ‘stardom’.

I’m often asked if Buddy showed me anything, he did show me his double string lick in ‘Leave My Little Girl Alone’. A lot of people don’t realize how big Buddy’s hands are, and it’s a stretch for me to play that lick.

But the main thing he showed me was to put your all into your playing and don’t try to sound like anyone else, learn to love YOUR tone. This will free one to be themselves.
