I'm in a band, The Let Go. We can't decide what we play, so we just say rock. But it's kind of pop punk with post hardcore.

Me and my friend (drums) are in the process of forming a band. We are planning on using metalcore as a medium, and from their sometimes going into thrash and melodic death. We don't have a name yet

Thrash Metal is a genre. Some big bands from that are Metallica, Megadeath, Slayer, Anthrax etc. Melodic Death Metal is a genre that is basically death metal, that is more melodic. Some bands of that are In Flames (a great band by the way), Dark Tranquility, At The Gates, etc.

and melodic death metal is more focused on well structured guitar melodies and harmonies, along with fast drumming. And the screaming is not as prevalent, because in certain songs of the genre, one can only tell their is screaming if they listen closely, because its more like another instrument then the fronting part of the band. And also, the lyrics are not necessarily focused on things such as death gore and murder like traditional death metal

eh, i'm not in a band.. me and a few of my friends are getting there i suppose... we enjoy sitting around and jamming to anything that really comes to mind, but if i were to make a band probably along the lines of radiohead-ish type style
